Now sources are saying the eponymous show\u2019s host is handing out more than $2 million worth of bonuses to her staffers \u2014 based on the length of their tenure according to some reports.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>DeGeneres is preparing to go out with a bang despite numerous allegations of the show being a toxic work environment. Her last few months of guests will include big names including former First Lady Michelle Obama, the Daily Mail <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-10620675\/Ellen-DeGeneres-paid-staff-2M-ahead-final-Michelle-Obama-26.html\"><span>reported<\/span><\/a><span>. Kim Kardashian, David Letterman, Jennifer Garner, Channing Tatum, Serena Williams, Zac Efron, Adam Levine, Behati Prinsloo, Gwen Stefani, Diane Keaton and DeGeneres\u2019 wife Portia de Rossi are also slated to show up on Ellen\u2019s set.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In addition, the employees who stuck it out with the 64-year-old comedian will be receiving cash bonuses, a source close to the show told the publication.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Sources also told <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2022\/03\/the-ellen-degeneres-show-end-date-finale-michelle-obama-guests-staffers-bonuses-1234979392\/\"><span>Deadline<\/span><\/a><span> that employees of \u201cEllen\u201d will receive payouts determined by tenure. They said anyone working for the show one to four years will receive two-week pay, any with four to eight years there will receive three-week pay, et cetera, with a maximum payment topping off at six weeks of pay for anyone there longer than six years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Deadline also reported that around 30% of the show\u2019s staff have been part of the show for more than 10 years. Some senior level employees were with \u201cEllen\u201d for all 19 seasons.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>This payout comes after the toxic workplace allegations, which began circulating in 2020, forever changed the show\u2019s legacy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Per <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/celebrity-news\/news\/ellen-degeneres-speaks-out-following-toxic-workplace-claims\/?fbclid=IwAR173-rAOHJgukCo8SNQYYhvTsi4sjox2RLjGu2kbPOhVhX689dYkpAT_qw\"><span>Us Weekly<\/span><\/a><span>, \u201cemployees alleged they faced racism, fear, and intimidation behind the scenes\u201d of DeGeneres\u2019 wildly popular talk show. Employees were told not to bring up issues they experienced at work.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cWe all have a kind of \u2018this isn\u2019t normal\u2019 feeling about how people get treated there,\u201d a former \u201cEllen\u201d staffer told <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.buzzfeednews.com\/article\/krystieyandoli\/ellen-employees-allege-toxic-workplace-culture\"><span>BuzzFeed<\/span><\/a><span>. \u201cAnd there\u2019s this ushering out the door. Or your contract isn\u2019t renewed the minute you ruffle anyone\u2019s feathers. Or you don\u2019t show that you\u2019re extremely grateful and appreciative to work there.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThey kind of feed off of that, like, \u2018This is Ellen; this is as good as it gets. You\u2019ll never find anything better than this,\u2019\u201d another staffer said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>While many of the complaints were against upper management and not DeGeneres herself, the whole controversy encouraged former colleagues to share their own stories of the comedian being far different in real life than the person she plays on TV. Eventually, the backlash against \u201cEllen\u201d became so extreme, the host was forced to write a formal letter to her staff.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cOn day one of our show, I told everyone in our first meeting that \u2018The Ellen DeGeneres Show\u2019 would be a place of happiness,\u201d DeGeneres said in a letter. \u201cNo one would ever raise their voice, and everyone would be treated with respect.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cObviously, something changed, and I am disappointed to learn that this has not been the case. And for that, I am sorry. Anyone who knows me knows it\u2019s the opposite of what I believe and what I hoped for our show,\u201d she continued.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cAs someone who was judged and nearly lost everything for just being who I am, I truly understand and have deep compassion for those being looked at differently, or treated unfairly, not equal, or \u2013 worse \u2013 disregarded. To think that any one of you felt that way is awful to me.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Despite the apology, many employees didn\u2019t feel it was enough.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>BuzzFeed <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.buzzfeednews.com\/article\/krystieyandoli\/ex-ellen-show-employees-sexual-misconduct-allegations\"><span>reporters<\/span><\/a><span> spoke to 36 former employees of the show who \u201cmany of whom independently corroborated incidents of harassment, sexual misconduct, and assault from top producers.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cAnother longtime former employee who also worked with DeGeneres said the talk show host \u2018doesn\u2019t want to know\u2019 about what goes on behind the scenes, and \u2018nobody wants to rock the boat,\u201d BuzzFeed reported. And one former employee confirmed the show host knew what was going on.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cShe knows,\u201d the source told BuzzFeed. \u201cShe knows s*** goes on, but also she doesn\u2019t want to hear it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>After all the negative press, DeGeneres announced she was ending the formerly beloved talk show.
