Speaking to British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Zelenskyy said that his people \u201cwill always remember who came to the rescue at the most difficult time\u201d for the country and that the world needs to establish new security guarantees.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Russian invasion of Ukraine destroyed everything that security in our region \u2013 and I am sure international security \u2013 was based on,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.president.gov.ua\/en\/news\/volodimir-zelenskij-na-zustrichi-lideriv-derzhav-joint-exped-73573\">he said<\/a>. \u201cThe weight of the organizations we all hoped for, the force of international conventions, it has also called into question the world\u2019s most powerful alliance, NATO.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>Ukraine has been trying to become a member of NATO since 2008, but Zelenskyy said that his country must admit that NATO does not appear willing to accept Ukraine.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor years we have heard about the supposedly open door, but we have also heard that we should not enter, and this is true and we must admit it,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/zelenskyy-says-ukraine-admit-it-wont-join-nato-russia-invasion-2022-3?r=US&#038;IR=T\">he said.<\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p><strong>A Deal May Be a \u201cWeek or Two Away\u201d \u2013 and Why That\u2019s Convenient <\/strong>\n<\/p>\n<p>Oleksiy Arestovich, one of Zelenskyy\u2019s top aides, predicted that the war in Ukraine could end within a matter of weeks and that a peace deal will eventually be struck when Russian troops run out of resources.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are at a fork in the road now.\u00a0 There will either be a peace deal struck very quickly, within a week or two, with troop withdrawal and everything, or there will be an attempt to scrape together some, say, Syrians for a round two. And when we grind them too, an agreement by mid-April or late April,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-10617483\/Zelenskys-team-say-peace-deal-struck-Vladimir-Putin-week-two.html\">Arestovich said this week.<\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think that no later than in May, early May, we should have a peace agreement. Maybe much earlier, we will see.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>Arestovich\u2019s prediction that a peace deal could be struck within 14 days aligns with a prediction from a senior British defense source that Russian troops may only be able to keep up their current momentum for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.19fortyfive.com\/2022\/03\/putins-disaster-russia-could-run-out-of-steam-in-ukraine-in-2-weeks\/\">two more weeks<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs long as we keep pressing they\u2019ve got 10 to 14 days before reaching their culminating point.
