Josh Hawley (R-MO) said Wednesday that President Joe Biden\u2019s Supreme Court nominee \u201chas a pattern of letting child porn offenders off the hook for their appalling crimes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Missouri Republican aired his concerns about Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson in a Wednesday evening Twitter thread that expressed concerns that Jackson\u2019s record \u201cendangers our children.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been researching the record of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, reading her opinions, articles, interviews &#038; speeches,\u201d the senator said. \u201cI\u2019ve noticed an alarming pattern when it comes to Judge Jackson\u2019s treatment of sex offenders, especially those preying on children.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I\u2019ve been researching the record of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, reading her opinions, articles, interviews &#038; speeches. I\u2019ve noticed an alarming pattern when it comes to Judge Jackson\u2019s treatment of sex offenders, especially those preying on children<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Josh Hawley (@HawleyMO) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/HawleyMO\/status\/1504221926662844418?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 16, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Hawley claimed that as far back as during Jackson\u2019s time in law school, the judge has questioned whether convicts should be made to register as sex offenders and said that it leads to \u201cstigmatization and ostracism.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe\u2019s suggested public policy is driven by a \u2018climate of fear, hatred &#038; revenge\u2019 against sex offenders,\u201d Hawley tweeted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt gets worse,\u201d he warned. \u201cAs a member of the U.S. Sentencing Commission, Judge Jackson advocated for drastic change in how the law treats sex offenders by eliminating the existing mandatory minimum sentences for child porn.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the senator, Jackson has said that some people in possession of child pornography\u00a0\u201care in this for either the collection, or the people who are loners and find status in their participation in the community.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Judge Jackson has said that some people who possess child porn \u201care in this for either the collection, or the people who are loners and find status in their participation in the community.\u201d What community would that be? The community of child exploiters? <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/JDxqf9Q1AH\">pic.twitter.com\/JDxqf9Q1AH<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Josh Hawley (@HawleyMO) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/HawleyMO\/status\/1504221939082145799?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 16, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWhat community would that be?\u201d Hawley asked. \u201cThe community of child exploiters.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Missouri Republican further said that Jackson has suggested there may be a type of \u201cless-serious child pornography offender\u201d whose motivation is not sexual, and noted that during Jackson\u2019s time on the\u00a0U.S. Sentencing Commission, Jackson said she \u201cmistakingly assumed that child pornography offenders are pedophiles.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jackson also said that she wanted \u201cto understand this category of nonpedophiles who obtain child pornography,\u201d Hawley added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn the federal bench, Judge Jackson put her troubling views into action,\u201d the senator tweeted. \u201cIn every single child porn case for which we can find records, Judge Jackson deviated from the federal sentencing guidelines in favor of child porn offenders.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">In United States v. Sears, the sex offender distributed more than 102 child porn videos. He also sent lewd pictures of his own 10-year-old daughter. The Guidelines recommended 97-121 months in prison.
