(INA FASSBENDER\/AFP via Getty)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cAn immediate stop would have unforeseen consequences for the heat supply to households,\u201d he said. \u201cSanctions have to be chosen in such a way that we can endure them.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>However, despite the apparent eagerness for German authorities to move away from energy sourced from Russia, the country has taken a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2022\/03\/10\/germany-ignores-looming-energy-crisis-to-close-all-nuclear-power-plants\/\">number of actions<\/a> that appear to work contrary to this goal.<\/p>\n<p>For example, a plan to keep the country\u2019s remaining nuclear plants online for the time being so as to lessen reliance on Russian supply was outright rejected by authorities, as a result of a report drawn up by two government ministries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a result of weighing up the benefits and risks, an extension of the operating lives of the three remaining nuclear power plants is not recommended, also in view of the current gas crisis,\u201d the two ministries \u2014 both of whom are led by a minister from Germany\u2019s anti-nuclear Green Party \u2014 said in a joint statement.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3426411\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/GettyImages-476794198.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3426411\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/GettyImages-476794198.jpg\" alt=\"nuclear officer\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>File\/Passing cars leave a streak of light as steam rises from the cooling towers of the Grafenrheinfeld nuclear power plant at night on June 11, 2015 near Grafenrheinfeld, Germany. (Sean Gallup\/Getty Images)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Instead, the country\u2019s Federal Economics Minister,\u00a0Robert Habeck, has put great emphasis on\u00a0Liquified Natural Gas as a potential panacea for Germany\u2019s current Russian energy addiction, despite the country currently having no way of landing the fuel which is in increasingly short supply internationally.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the German public has become <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2022\/03\/16\/green-agenda-germans-fear-consequences-of-new-governments-climate-policy-poll\/\">extremely sceptical<\/a> of the new government\u2019s climate change plans, with over half of the population believing the coalition\u2019s green agenda will have a negative effect on German society.<\/p>\n<p>Nearly half of the country also believes that green policies will have a negative effect on their personal lives, with more than half in the eastern half of the country feeling that this will be the case.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Germany is considering reopening some of its decommissioned coal power plants in the hopes of getting a handle on its ongoing energy crisis.
