O\u2019Keefe is currently suing the paper for defamation in state court, and he succeeded in persuading a state judge to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/the-media\/2021\/11\/18\/judge-orders-new-york-times-to-defend-publishing-james-okeefe-legal-memos\/\">stop<\/a> the <em>Times<\/em> from publishing O\u2019Keefe\u2019s legal memos, and to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/the-media\/2021\/12\/27\/judge-orders-new-york-times-to-return-james-okeefes-legal-memos\/\">return<\/a> them to him. He also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/the-media\/2021\/12\/08\/okeefe-legal-win-federal-court-orders-special-master-to-review-seized-phone\/\">persuaded<\/a> a\u00a0federal judge to order a \u201cspecial master\u201d to review evidence on his personal cell phone, which the FBI seized in the raid, since material on the phone could prejudice the defamation case.<\/p>\n<p>Several media and civil liberties organizations belatedly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/the-media\/2021\/11\/15\/aclu-speaks-out-finally-against-fbi-raid-on-james-okeefe\/\">defended<\/a> O\u2019Keefe\u2019s First Amendment rights after the FBI raid.<\/p>\n<p><em>Joel B.
