The plan remains before the State Senate Finance Committee and would provide insurance to about 46,000 illegal aliens.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cProvides eligibility for services under the basic health program for individuals whose immigration status renders him or her ineligible for federal financial participation and who meet additional requirements,\u201d a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\/legislation\/bills\/2021\/s1572?intent=oppose\">summary<\/a> of the plan states.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/nycitylens.com\/healthcare-undocumented-workers-new-york-gets-push-immigrant-advocates\/\">addition<\/a> to the mass migration lobby, corporate special interests are backing the plan, including the Chamber of Commerce-linked Business Council of New York,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bcnys.org\/sites\/default\/files\/2022-03\/S1572A_A880A_EssentialPlan.pdf\">which calls<\/a> the effort to insure illegal aliens \u201can important avenue to be pursued\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The move would be similar to that of California, where Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/07\/27\/gavin-newsom-approves-health-benefits-for-illegal-alien-senior-citizens\/\">expanded health<\/a> insurance coverage, paid for by taxpayers, to illegal aliens.<\/p>\n<p>In recent months, Newsom has sought taxpayer-funded universal health insurance for the state\u2019s three million illegal aliens \u2014 an annual cost of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/01\/10\/gavin-newsom-seeks-taxpayer-funded-health-insurance-california-3m-illegal-aliens\/\">$2.4 billion,<\/a>\u00a0in addition to the billions in costs that taxpayers in the state already pay to provide health insurance to certain groups of illegal aliens.<\/p>\n<p>Americans, nationwide, already are forced to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2019\/06\/27\/fact-check-u-s-taxpayers-pay-18-5b-a-year-for-healthcare-for-illegal-aliens\/\">subsidize<\/a>\u00a0about\u00a0$18.5 billion\u00a0of yearly medical costs for illegal aliens living in the United States, according to estimates by Chris Conover, formerly of the Center for Health Policy and Inequalities Research at Duke University.<\/p>\n<p>When American voters were\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2019\/07\/08\/cnn-poll-6-in-10-swing-voters-oppose-taxpayer-funded-healthcare-for-illegal-aliens\/\">polled<\/a>\u00a0by CNN\u00a0on the issue in July 2019, nearly 6-in-10 said they were opposed to forcing taxpayers to provide free health benefits to illegal aliens, including 63 percent of swing voters and 61 percent of self-described \u201cmoderates.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>John Binder is a reporter for Breitbart News.
