Republicans on the Senate Banking Committee led by Ranking Member Pat Toomey have <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/02\/15\/senate-banking-committee-sarah-bloom-raskin-vote-pat-toomey\/\">boycotted<\/a> a vote to pass her nomination and four other nominations to the Senate for a floor vote since February.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnfortunately, Senate Republicans are more focused on amplifying these false claims and protecting special interests than taking important steps toward addressing inflation and lowering costs for the American people,\u201d Biden said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2022\/03\/15\/statement-from-president-biden-on-the-withdrawal-of-sarah-bloom-raskins-nomination-to-serve-as-vice-chair-for-supervision-of-the-federal-reserve-board-of-governors\/\">statement<\/a> Tuesday. \u201cI am grateful for Sarah\u2019s service to our country and for her willingness to serve again, and I look forward to her future contributions to our country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2022\/01\/14\/president-biden-nominates-sarah-bloom-raskin-to-serve-as-vice-chair-for-supervision-of-the-federal-reserve-and-lisa-cook-and-philip-jefferson-to-serve-as-governors\/\">nominated<\/a>\u00a0Raskin for vice chair for supervision of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System on Jan. 14.<\/p>\n<p>But Democratic Sen. (Bill Clark\/Pool\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>In a Feb. 2 memo, Banking Committee Republicans <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/02\/02\/senate-banking-committee-republicans-sarah-bloom-raskin-federal-reserve-climate-change\/\">pointed to<\/a> her past comments saying that federal financial regulations need to be \u201creimagined\u201d to save the world from an \u201cunlivably hot planet.\u201d A coalition of top financial officers from 25 states also <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/01\/31\/states-financial-officers-joe-biden-climate-change-policies\/\">announced<\/a> their opposition to her nomination in January, citing her positions that capital should be choked off from fossil fuel projects and banks that serve oil and gas companies should be punished.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRaskin is a \u2018climate warrior\u2019 who would abuse the Fed\u2019s narrow statutory mandates by having the central bank actively engage in capital allocation and de-bank energy companies,\u201d the report <a href=\"https:\/\/www.banking.senate.gov\/imo\/media\/doc\/sarah_bloom_raskin_in_her_own_words.pdf\">stated<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Chamber of Commerce and several fossil fuel groups also <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/02\/03\/fossil-fuel-industry-federal-reserve-nominee-sarah-bloom-raskin-joe-biden\/\">opposed<\/a> Raskin for the Federal Reserve role.<\/p>\n<p>Raskin\u2019s announcement was first <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/sarah-bloom-raskin-bidens-pick-for-top-fed-post-withdraws-11647372174?mod=hp_lead_pos1\">reported<\/a> by The Wall Street Journal.<\/p>\n<p>Content created by The Daily Caller News Foundation is available without charge to any eligible news publisher that can provide a large audience.
