Brad Little to sign after the Idaho House on Monday voted overwhelmingly in support of the measure.<\/p>\n<p>The legislation passed the state House 51-14 and cleared the Idaho Senate earlier this month, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2022\/03\/14\/abortion-ban-idaho-texas\/?utm_source=alert&#038;utm_medium=email&#038;utm_campaign=wp_news_alert_revere&#038;location=alert&#038;wpmk=1&#038;wpisrc=al_news__alert-politics--alert-national&#038;pwapi_token=eyJ0eXAiOiJKV1QiLCJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiJ9.eyJjb29raWVuYW1lIjoid3BfY3J0aWQiLCJpc3MiOiJDYXJ0YSIsImNvb2tpZXZhbHVlIjoiNTk3N2U0NmU5YmJjMGY2ODI2Yzc1ZTYzIiwidGFnIjoid3BfbmV3c19hbGVydF9yZXZlcmUiLCJ1cmwiOiJodHRwczovL3d3dy53YXNoaW5ndG9ucG9zdC5jb20vcG9saXRpY3MvMjAyMi8wMy8xNC9hYm9ydGlvbi1iYW4taWRhaG8tdGV4YXMvP3V0bV9zb3VyY2U9YWxlcnQmdXRtX21lZGl1bT1lbWFpbCZ1dG1fY2FtcGFpZ249d3BfbmV3c19hbGVydF9yZXZlcmUmbG9jYXRpb249YWxlcnQmd3Btaz0xJndwaXNyYz1hbF9uZXdzX19hbGVydC1wb2xpdGljcy0tYWxlcnQtbmF0aW9uYWwifQ.EYbjDqFL_XIr_ZoUIYYvyzrdLM5BmEgdRLnPzcd-Vas\">The Washington Post<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>The bill, which includes exceptions for rape, incest, and medical emergencies, has a narrower scope than the Texas law on which it was modeled that opens anyone facilitating an abortion to a lawsuit from any citizen.<\/p>\n<p>Under Idaho&#8217;s bill, only family members can file the lawsuit. This includes the fetus&#8217; father, siblings, aunts, uncles, and grandparents. The bill also limits the time window for filing cases against abortion providers to four years after the abortion, the Post reported.<\/p>\n<p>Women in Idaho may currently obtain an abortion until a fetus becomes viable outside of the womb, which is typically around 22 to 24 weeks.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Idaho&#8217;s bill, should the governor sign it, could become law by April.<\/p>\n<p>Little signed a heartbeat law last year that is not currently in effect because of legal problems. He is expected to sign off on the latest bill.<\/p>\n<p>The Supreme Court ruled against most Texas abortion providers in December, allowing the state&#8217;s law to remain in place while a lower court <a href=\"https:\/\/justthenews.com\/government\/courts-law\/legal-challenge-tx-abortion-law-effectively-over-say-clinics-after-state\">considers<\/a> part of the case.<\/p>\n<p>Planned Parenthood Action on Monday <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PPact\/status\/1503477624512737280\">expressed anger<\/a> over the Idaho bill.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Anti-abortion lawmakers ignored public opinion and rushed to capitalize on the U.S. Supreme Court\u2019s failure to block Texas\u2019s ban,&#8221; the group tweeted. &#8220;We&#8217;re angry. But we&#8217;re NOT giving up.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Republican lawmakers in Idaho celebrated the bill&#8217;s passage.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Let\u2019s take advantage of this opportunity to halt the slaughter of the unborn in Idaho,&#8221; Idaho Republican state Sen. C. Scott Grow said, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifenews.com\/2022\/03\/14\/idaho-legislature-passes-texas-style-bill-to-ban-abortions-on-babies-with-beating-hearts\/\">Life News<\/a> reported. &#8220;No matter the outcome of the Mississippi challenge, between now and the time of that Supreme Court decision, this Idaho bill will potentially deter the abortion of hundreds.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Supreme Court is set to issue a ruling later this year on\u00a0a Mississippi case that could weaken or overturn Roe v.
