When broken down among demographics, 35% of black, Hispanic, Asian-American and other minority voters expressed feeling the pain of inflation, compared to 28% of white voters. Among those polled, 44% of black women and Hispanic men reported the highest proportion of major strain among demographic and gender combinations.<\/p>\n<p>The poll was conducted between March 2-7 among 1,500 registered voters with a +\/- 2.5 percentage points margin of error.<\/p>\n<p>Lower-income individuals also reported a high strain on their finances due to inflation.<\/p>\n<p>Sixty-two-year-old Roger Stephens, a semi-retired airplane mechanic who is black and lives in Los Angeles, said <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/06\/average-us-gas-price-exceeds-4-per-gallon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">gas<\/a> is costing him nearly $6 a gallon while grocery prices are on the rise as well, according to the WSJ.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUncle Joe has put us on a diet,\u201d Stephens, a registered Democrat, told the WSJ in reference to President Joe Biden. \u201cI like to have a steak once or twice a month. I can\u2019t do it now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Stephens, who voted for both former Presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump, said he\u2019s likely to vote Republican this year because <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/09\/tlaib-no-inflation-blames-extortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">inflation<\/a> has become out of control, according to the report. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/10\/cnbc-rick-santelli-biden-administration-list-excuses-inflation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: CNBC Anchor Slams Biden Administration For List Of Excuses About Inflation)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Stephens isn\u2019t alone, however. Forty-seven percent of voters polled said they think Republicans can best handle <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/11\/simply-not-true-biden-inflation-government-spending\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">inflation<\/a>, compared to just 30% who said Democrats could, according to the WSJ. Among party lines, roughly 9 out of 10 Republican voters think the economy is headed in the wrong direction while 36% of Democrats think the same, according to the poll.\u00a0Seventy-one percent of independent voters say the economy is headed in the wrong direction.<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/08\/report-independent-voters-economy-inflation-cost-living\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">poll<\/a> conducted by Epluribus LLC, creators of MOXY, found independent voters represent 23.7% of Americans, and amongst those polled, inflation, the economy and jobs were listed as their highest priority.<\/p>\n<p>And inflation could be bad news for Democrats, with the WSJ poll finding key Democratic voters are feeling the heat of inflation and want change.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7391677\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-7391677\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">WASHINGTON, DC \u2013 MARCH 11: U.S. President Joe Biden walks across the South Lawn as he departs the White House on March 11, 2022, in Washington, DC. (Photo by Chip Somodevilla\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Seventy-eight percent of Hispanic voters said the economy is headed in the wrong direction. When asked who\u2019d they back for a congressional candidate, 46% of Hispanic voters said they would probably or definitely choose a Republican, compared to 37% who said they would choose a Democrat.<\/p>\n<p>While black voters still chose Democratic candidates over Republican candidates, \u00a0the margins are shrinking. A November poll found 56% of those polled favored a Democrat candidate compared to 35% now, according to the WSJ. Meanwhile, support for a Republican candidate jumped 15%.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/10\/bureau-labor-statistics-inflation-consumer-price-index\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Inflation<\/a> recently hit a four-decade high, with the Consumer Price Index jumping 0.8% in February, bringing the key inflation indicator\u2019s year-over-year increase to 7.9%.<\/p>\n<p>The Biden administration <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/07\/15\/white-house-jen-psaki-inflation-temporary-jp-morgan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">claimed<\/a> in July the inflation spike would be \u201ctemporary\u201d and gone by the end of 2022.
