Lee Zeldin (R-NY), released an internal poll Monday showing that he can beat Democrat Gov. Kathy Hochul, who was only elevated to the position following the former governor\u2019s resignation.<\/p>\n<p>The internal campaign survey, first <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/03\/14\/republican-lee-zeldin-says-he-can-beat-ny-gov-kathy-hochul\/?utm_medium=SocialFlow&#038;utm_campaign=SocialFlow&#038;utm_source=NYPTwitter\">reported<\/a> by the\u00a0<em>New York Post,<\/em> showed in a hypothetical matchup between Zeldin and\u00a0Hochul, he would receive\u00a045.5 percent of the vote, slightly edging out the Democrat\u2019s 44 percent. The rest said they were undecided.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cOver the last year, we have built an unparalleled movement, powered by thousands of volunteers, tens of thousands of grassroots donations and scores of New Yorkers who are waking up and all in to Save Our State,\u201d said Zeldin told the\u00a0<em>Post.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The survey asked 800 voters and was conducted by John McLaughlin &#038; Associates. There was no\u00a0margin of error given, but the\u00a0<em>Post<\/em> mentioned that the results are within the margin.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese numbers aren\u2019t because of luck. There was also 17 percent who said taxes were their\u00a0top concern.<\/p>\n<p>This is a major plus for a Republican running in the state. Last year, the\u00a0Democrats running the state raised the taxes and approved, what appears to be a very unpopular, no-cash bail law.<\/p>\n<p>The respondents were also asked about President Joe Biden where only\u00a043 percent approved of Biden, while\u00a055 percent disapproved. In the 2020 presidential election, Biden received over 60 percent of the vote in the Empire State.<\/p>\n<p>Only\u00a044 percent of the\u00a0respondents approved of\u00a0Hochul, with\u00a048 percent disapproved.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs we continue to get our message out coming off of this month\u2019s Republican and Conservative Party conventions and after airing television and radio ads statewide since the beginning of February,\u201d Zeldin added. \u201cIt\u2019s never been more clear that we have the issues on our side, we have the momentum of our side, and there\u2019s a big red wave headed straight for New York in 2022.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Although Zeldin received the nomination from the\u00a0state Republican Party convention earlier this month, he still has to win the primary race.\u00a0Andrew Giuliani, former Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino, and businessman Harry Wilson are also running the primary.<\/p>\n<p><i>Jacob Bliss is a reporter for Breitbart News.
