Tesla\u2019s plant, a so-called <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/11\/24\/tesla-elon-musk-austin-texas-gigafactory\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">gigafactory<\/a>, is set to open on April 7, was built for $1.1 billion and will be Tesla\u2019s global headquarters.<\/p>\n<p>Walsh is visiting Austin for the annual South by Southwest festival. He <a href=\"https:\/\/schedule.sxsw.com\/2022\/events\/PP1141484\">will discuss<\/a> \u201cworker empowerment, job growth, unionization, the \u2018Great Resignation\u2019 and getting Americans back to work\u201d during a panel discussion at the event Monday.<\/p>\n<p>But Walsh\u2019s visit to the Tesla factory over the weekend represents a departure from the Biden administration\u2019s effort to avoid mentioning the electric vehicle maker and its billionaire founder. Musk has lashed out against the White House and president Joe Biden multiple times for apparently snubbing Tesla while pushing for greater domestic electric vehicle manufacturing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBiden has pointedly ignored Tesla at every turn and falsely stated to the public that GM leads the electric car industry, when in fact Tesla produced over 300,000 electric vehicles last quarter and GM produced 26,\u201d Musk <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/02\/23\/elon-musk-joe-biden-white-house-tesla-visit\/\">told<\/a> CNBC in February. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/02\/elon-musk-joe-biden-state-of-the-union-tesla\/\">(RELATED: Elon Musk Mocks Biden\u2019s State Of The Union Address After Tesla Snub)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SecMartyWalsh?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@SecMartyWalsh<\/a> visited the Austin Tesla factory ahead of his SXSW speech today<\/p>\n<p>One of the first public embraces of Tesla and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@elonmusk<\/a> by the Biden administration, despite <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/POTUS?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@POTUS<\/a>\u2019 massive EV push <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/L5O7c4kMLw\">pic.twitter.com\/L5O7c4kMLw<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Christian Datoc (@TocRadio) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TocRadio\/status\/1503347223110864898?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 14, 2022<\/a> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In late January, Musk\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/01\/29\/elon-musk-joe-biden-electric-vehicles-tesla\/\">tweeted<\/a> that Biden was a \u201cdamp sock puppet in human form,\u201d adding that the president was \u201ctrying to cancel a great American company and rewrite EV history.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The White House\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/tesla-wasnt-invited-to-white-house-electric-cars-summit-2021-8\">has yet to invite<\/a> Musk or other Tesla leaders to any event in the administration\u2019s 14 months in power. But the president <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/02\/08\/joe-biden-electric-vehicle-factory-australia-tesla-elon-musk\/\">has hosted<\/a> a range of EV companies and visited multiple factories producing zero-emissions cars.<\/p>\n<p>Biden even promoted an Australian electric vehicle charger company before acknowledging Tesla, which <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2021\/02\/16\/tesla-owns-electric-car-market-us\/\">made nearly 80%<\/a> of the EVs sold in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPresident Biden is right that American entrepreneurs and manufacturers must be at the forefront of the electric vehicle revolution,\u201d American Conservation Coalition Vice President of Government Affairs Quill Robinson said in a statement shared with the Daily Caller News Foundation. \u201cYet, today, he placed an Australian company on the podium and nodded to the unions, which routinely stifle innovation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf President Biden wished to champion American innovation, he would have asked the CEO of Tesla, the largest EV company in the world, to join him on the stage,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>The Labor Department and Tesla didn\u2019t immediately respond to requests for comment from the DCNF.<\/p>\n<p>Content created by The Daily Caller News Foundation is available without charge to any eligible news publisher that can provide a large audience.
