country\u2019s \u2018humanitarian response\u2019 regarding the taking in of Ukrainian refugees trumps all other concerns the country may have regarding the crisis, including those surrounding national security.<\/p>\n<p>When it comes to the ongoing refugee crisis caused by Vladimir Putin\u2019s invasion of Ukraine, nothing matters more to Ireland \u2014 according to the nation\u2019s Prime Minister Miche\u00e1l Martin \u2014 than its open borders \u201chumanitarian response\u201d regarding the taking in of refugees.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>This is despite the fact that the UK\u2019s Home Office believes the crisis poses a risk to Britain\u2019s national security, with the country refusing to remove visa requirements for those saying they are fleeing the country.<\/p>\n<p>However \u2014 despite the country with access to some of the best intelligence agencies in the world sounding the alarm regarding risks to national security \u2014 Ireland\u2019s PM reportedly sees any concerns regarding would-be refugees as secondary to the country\u2019s BBC News on Sunday in response to a question on whether he had any concerns regarding security.<\/p>\n<p>The Fianna F\u00e1il TD from Cork went on to claim that \u201cobviously\u201d the country was keeping \u201ca monitoring situation in terms of what\u2019s going on\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>However, he did not elaborate much on what such a statement actually meant beyond having authorities receive would-be asylum seekers at the airport.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe can all see the humanitarian crisis \u2014 we do know that can be exploited by certain bad actors,\u201d Martin admitted, but said that refugees who can come to the small island nation.<\/p>\n<p>However, the Irish politician\u2019s\u00a0\u201csure, it\u2019ll be grand\u201d attitude towards the country\u2019s open border situation stands in stark contrast with authorities in the UK, who have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2022\/03\/09\/irish-open-borders-approach-to-ukrainian-refugees-a-security-risk-for-uk-claim\/\">repeatedly warned<\/a> that security checks on Ukrainians looking to enter Britain must remain in place for reasons to do with national security.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>While the nation\u2019s approach to taking in refugees has previously been lambasted for its \u201clack of humanity\u201d, the country has so far <em>mostly<\/em> stuck to its guns, insisting that would-be asylum seekers must undergo biometric and security checks before landing on shore.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2026it\u2019s the Home Office that will get the blame if in three or fives\u2019 years time there are problems with those who come,\u201d one anonymous government source previously said regarding the issue. \u201cThat\u2019s why the security checks have to be done carefully now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are some people who would like to dispense with checks altogether and simply to wave people through,\u201d UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson more recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/europe\/ukraine-calls-uk-relax-visa-requirements-fleeing-refugees-2022-03-09\/\">said<\/a>. \u201cI do think that is irresponsible.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B4\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWe are going to be as generous as we can possibly be, but we must have checks,\u201d he insisted.<\/p>\n<p>Those within the government <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2022\/03\/09\/irish-open-borders-approach-to-ukrainian-refugees-a-security-risk-for-uk-claim\/\">reportedly<\/a> believe that Ireland\u2019s lax attitude to the crisis is putting the UK at risk, thanks to the two nations sharing a common travel area.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIreland has basically opened the door to everyone in Ukraine, which creates a problem due to the Common Travel Area,\u201d a government source is reported as saying before referencing how Dublin\u2019s immigration policy had caused serious headaches for Britain in the past.<\/p>\n<p>Despite these concerns, Irish officials have insisted on keeping the border open, regardless of what their neighbour thinks or believes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re not going to shut the Border,\u201d environment minister Eamon Ryan is reported as saying. \u201cI think the UK government are going to understand this in the same way we understand when it was coming the other way with the pandemic, that the best way is not to shut the Border but to make sure you share information and that gives confidence and security.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, under the UK\u2019s new Ukraine visa scheme, the number of arrivals will <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-60731485\">not actually be limited<\/a>, leaving the UK more exposed to the largest movement of people since the
