Radical left-wing D.A. Chesa Boudin filed charges in December 2020, <a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/sfdistrictattorney.org\/press-release\/da-boudin-announces-filing-felony-charges-against-sfpd-officer-who-seriously-injured-dacari-spiers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">implying<\/a> that the officer was racist: \u201cThis case is an example of an officer unnecessarily escalating a situation and then violently beating a Black man whom he had no legal basis to even arrest.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Magen Hayashi, an investigator for the D.A.\u2019s office, testified \u2026 that she had signed an affidavit to show probable cause for the prosecution though she excluded evidence from a witness who saw the alleged victim assaulting his girlfriend.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The claim of withholding evidence <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/law-and-order\/2022\/02\/03\/s-f-police-cut-radical-d-a-out-of-investigations-of-officer-involved-shootings\/\">prompted<\/a> SFPD Chief Bill Scott to terminate an agreement with Boudin to cooperate in the investigation of allegations of brutality by police officers.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, a jury in San Francisco acquitted Officer Stangel, as the\u00a0<em>San Francisco Chronicle\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfchronicle.com\/sf\/article\/San-Francisco-police-officer-found-not-guilty-of-16984521.php\">reported<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>A jury found San Francisco Police Officer Terrance Stangel not guilty of assault and battery charges he faced for striking a man with a baton while on duty in 2019, closing a chapter on a landmark police use-of-force case in the city.<\/p>\n<p>The verdict came on what was the fourth day of deliberations after weeks of testimony from officers, experts, witnesses, Stangel and the alleged victim, Dacari Spiers.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div id=\"paywall\" class=\"content-wrapper\">\n<blockquote>\n<p>Jurors said they were unable to reach consensus on a charge of assault under the color of authority, with nine jurors voting \u201cnot guilty\u201d and three voting \u201cguilty.\u201d Judge Teresa Caffese declared a mistrial on the fourth count, and prosecutors did not immediately announce whether they plan to refile that charge.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Boudin said in a statement that he was \u201cdisappointed\u201d in the verdict. The judge in the case sharply <a href=\"https:\/\/missionlocal.org\/2022\/03\/judge-stangel-case-rips-prosecution\/\">rebuked<\/a> the D.A.\u2019s office for seeking a future court date: \u201c\u201cDon\u2019t you think it\u2019s time to move forward?\u201d she asked, according to Mission Local.<\/p>\n<p>Boudin faces a recall election in June, after disgruntled residents, outraged at the city\u2019s rising crime and lawlessness, and at his radical \u201ccriminal justice reform\u201d policies, organized a successful signature campaign to put a recall on the ballot. Three local school board members were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/education\/2022\/02\/16\/san-francisco-voters-recall-3-school-board-members-over-closures-woke-obsessions\/\">recalled<\/a> in February.<\/p>\n<p><em>Joel B.
