Robert Francis \u201cBeto\u201d O\u2019Rourke (D-TX) came out against teaching critical race theory in schools Friday while parroting the talking point that it is only taught in law schools.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe don\u2019t see [critical race theory] being taught in our schools right now,\u201d O\u2019Rourke stated at a town hall-style event in Victoria, Texas. \u201cIt\u2019s a course that is taught in law school.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Beto O&#8217;Rourke becomes the first prominent Democrat to flip against critical race theory.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I don&#8217;t think [CRT] should be taught in our schools.&#8221;<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/uzlj6uERmw\">pic.twitter.com\/uzlj6uERmw<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Christopher F. Rufo \u2694\ufe0f (@realchrisrufo) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/realchrisrufo\/status\/1502451273647341569?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 12, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>When asked by a member of the audience if he thought the indoctrination scheme should be taught in schools, O\u2019Rourke broke with many in his own party, replying, \u201cNo, I don\u2019t think it should be taught in our schools, yeah.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Breitbart News has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/tag\/critical-race-theory\/\">reported<\/a> on countless instances of the race-essentialist ideology being taught in America\u2019s schools, including in Texas.<\/p>\n<p>O\u2019Rourke, however, has reversed himself on many issues in the past.<\/p>\n<p>For example, the failed presidential and senatorial candidate has advocated for confiscating Americans\u2019 guns, then <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/02\/09\/beto-orourke-pivots-not-interested-taking-anything-anyone\/\">reversed<\/a> himself, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/03\/13\/now-beto-orourke-says-he-will-buy-back-texans-ar-15s\/\">reversed<\/a> himself again, as Breitbart News\u2019s AWR Hawkins points out.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Here is a timeline of O\u2019Rourke\u2019s confiscatory gun control statements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>September 12, 2019, he stood on stage at a Democrat presidential primary and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2019\/09\/12\/beto-orourke-hell-yes-were-going-to-take-your-ar-15\/\">said<\/a>, \u201cHell yes, we\u2019re going to take your AR-15.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>As a Democrat gubernatorial candidate in early February 2022, O\u2019Rourke actually talked of defending the Second Amendment.<\/li>\n<li>On February 8, 2022, KLTV\u00a0<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kltv.com\/2022\/02\/08\/beto-orourke-makes-stop-tyler-part-keeping-lights-tour\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">noted<\/a>\u00a0O\u2019Rourke\u2019s apparent abandonment of his confiscatory plans by quoting him saying, \u201cI\u2019m not interested in taking anything from anyone.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>But on March 12, 2022, O\u2019Rourke returned to his confiscatory position, pledging to buy back Texans\u2019 AR-15s and AK-47s if the state legislature will support it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>It is unclear from O\u2019Rourke\u2019s website how he might confront this issue in the future, as his education page appears to be primarily <a href=\"https:\/\/betoorourke.com\/issue\/invest-in-world-class-schools\/\">focused<\/a> on making promises to teachers\u2019 unions \u2014 which have also been at the forefront in advocating for critical race theory-driven curriculums, hiring practices, and teacher training.<\/p>\n<p><em>Breccan F.
