of the Lincoln Project&#8217;s &#8220;operations and culture,&#8221; could be hard-pressed to deliver a credible result given several of its senior partners have donated to the <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/politics\/lincoln-project-implodes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">scandal-plagued<\/a>&nbsp;super PAC.<\/p>\n<p>Greg Nitzkowski, the firm&#8217;s managing partner of more than two decades, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fec.gov\/data\/receipts\/?cycle=2022&amp;data_type=processed&amp;committee_id=C00725820&amp;contributor_name=nitzkowski&amp;line_number=F3X-11AI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">donated<\/a> $3,000 to the Lincoln Project in 2020, according to federal election records.&nbsp;Elena Baca, who chairs the firm&#8217;s employment law department, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fec.gov\/data\/receipts\/?cycle=2022&amp;data_type=processed&amp;committee_id=C00725820&amp;contributor_name=elena+baca&amp;line_number=F3X-11AI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">has donated<\/a> almost $2,000 to the Lincoln Project.<\/p>\n<div class=\"posts-content__category-widget md:hidden -ml-4 -mr-4 my-8 px-4 py-6 bg-gray-100\">\n<h4 class=\"mt-0 text-red-600 font-medium font-sans uppercase\">Recent Stories in Politics<\/h4>\n<ul class=\"list-none p-0\">\n<li class><a class=\"text-black block mb-3 pb-3 border-b border-white\" href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/politics\/paul-hastings-lincoln-project\/\"><strong>Senior Partners at Firm Hired to \u2018Review&#8217; employment lawyer for many large employers with high-profile disputes involving high-level executives and contentious high-stakes litigation.&#8221; She has won praise for her &#8220;aggressive approach&#8221; to defending clients against &#8220;claims of sex discrimination and retaliation.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Lincoln Project could soon require the services of an attorney with Baca&#8217;s skill set. The group&#8217;s only female cofounder, Jennifer Horn, has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/02\/12\/us\/politics\/lincoln-project-steve-schmidt-resigns.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">instructed<\/a> the group (via her lawyer) to retain documents in anticipation of a lawsuit. Horn, who <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/politics\/sinking-ship-just-3-of-8-founding-members-remain-at-scandal-plagued-lincoln-project\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">resigned<\/a> from the group on Feb. 5, has made <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/politics\/lincoln-project-toxic-masculinity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">allegations<\/a> of abusive and demeaning treatment by Lincoln Project executives.<\/p>\n<p>Three other Paul Hastings partners have donated money to the Lincoln Project: Sam Alavi, whose clients include the Qatar Investment Authority; Joseph Profaizer, who has defended Chinese firms against allegations of intellectual property theft from U.S. competitors; and Steven Marenberg, who previously represented Donald Trump and NBC Universal in a copyright case involving <em>The Apprentice<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The Lincoln Project <a href=\"https:\/\/lincolnproject.us\/news\/statement-from-the-lincoln-project-february-15-2021\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a> on Monday that it has retained Paul Hastings for the purpose of conducting an internal investigation. &#8220;We are committed to creating a positive, diverse, and inclusive workplace environment at The Lincoln Project, and inappropriate behavior by anyone associated with the organization will not be tolerated under any circumstances,&#8221; the group said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The move was seen by many as a last-ditch effort to placate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/02\/12\/lincoln-project-supporters-consider-cutting-off-donations-after-allegations.html?__source=sharebar|twitter&amp;par=sharebar\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nervous donors<\/a> and media outlets, whose fawning coverage of the Lincoln Project fueled its rise to become one of the most well-funded super PACs of the 2020 cycle. The group has been racked by scandal since mid-January, when dozens of young men <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/politics\/john-weaver-sex-scandal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">accused<\/a> cofounder John Weaver of engaging in inappropriate sexual behavior.<\/p>\n<p>Additional reporting on the scandal has uncovered significant evidence to suggest that senior Lincoln Project members, who have aggressively denied any knowledge of Weaver&#8217;s predatory behavior, are not being <a href=\"https:\/\/19thnews.org\/2021\/02\/lincoln-project-founders-march\/?utm_campaign=19th-social&amp;utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_medium=social\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">entirely<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/nymag.com\/intelligencer\/2021\/02\/lincoln-project-accused-of-protecting-predator-john-weaver.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">truthful<\/a>. The group has also failed to satisfy the demands of six former Lincoln Project employees and associates who have <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MaggieAstor\/status\/1361498466682363904\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">demanded<\/a> to be released from all non-disclosure agreements in order to speak openly about their experiences.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement of the internal review by Paul Hastings included an oddly worded passage releasing &#8220;staff and former staff from the confidentiality provisions in their employment agreements to discuss their workplace environment.&#8221; In a statement, the group of former employees and associates slammed the gesture as &#8220;insufficient&#8221; and &#8220;coyly narrowed&#8221; to give the appearance of transparency, while still barring them from discussing the Weaver scandal.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As an organization with dozens of contractors, subcontractors, informal advisers, and other associates, this statement is unclear, and seems intentionally narrowed to only include talking about a \u2018workplace environment,'&#8221; the former employees said. &#8220;This statement is designed to appear to be honest and forthright, while still keeping staff silent about the John Weaver situation on a technicality.
