Officials say it\u2019s one of the most dangerous streets in all of Los Angeles, and now\u2026\u201d he <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GeneKangTV\/status\/1502347391025893379\">said<\/a>\u00a0as the new accident unfolded dangerously close to where the crew had set up:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Crazy crash! I was covering a fatal hit &#038; run story yesterday. I was pointing out one of the most dangerous streets in <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/LosAngeles?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#LosAngeles<\/a> (Hoover &#038; 84th Street) \u2013 then this happened! We called 911, helped the victims and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LAPDHQ?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@LAPDHQ<\/a> has this video and the license plate. Stay safe! <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KTLA?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@KTLA<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/syzh09UnSK\">pic.twitter.com\/syzh09UnSK<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Gene Kang (@GeneKangTV) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GeneKangTV\/status\/1502347391025893379?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 11, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Two cars collided in the background and one spun around as the other stopped in the middle of the roadway.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>However, the vehicle that spun around appeared to drive up on the sidewalk, then speed away from the scene in the opposite direction.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur security guard Walter Mann yelled \u2018get back\u2019 and we moved as the car came racing towards us. It veered away at the last second and T-boned the car,\u201d Kang recalled of the incident.<\/p>\n<p>Social media users commented on Kang\u2019s video, one person <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BrookeMartell\/status\/1502515041936896000\">writing<\/a>, \u201cThis is nuts! Glad you and your photographer are safe!\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"css-1dbjc4n\">\n<p>\u201cNothing better than visual presentation. Maybe now the city will do something,\u201d another <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/01_renee\/status\/1502500210596974602\">commented<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Officers suspected the driver who fled had recently been involved in a crime, and they picked up a license plate that was left at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>No one in the car that stopped in the middle of the street appeared to have been hurt, according to KTLA.<\/p>\n<p>In August, during a rise in fatal traffic collisions, citizens <a href=\"https:\/\/abc7.com\/south-los-angeles-traffic-deaths-fatalities-hit-and-run-crashes\/10987972\/\">said<\/a> they wanted to make the area a safer place to be, ABC 7 reported at the time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCommunity activists say over the last year, traffic deaths have skyrocketed, especially in South L.A., which has seen a 46% increase. The vast majority of those crashes are hit-and-runs,\u201d the outlet noted.<\/p>\n<p>Kang was reporting on a hit-and-run that killed a father who was crossing the street with his family in late February.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat driver still hasn\u2019t been found.
