Andrew Cuomo.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2021\/02\/15\/families-of-nursing-home-victims-demand-probe-of-cuomo\/?\">New York Post interviewed a number of state residents<\/a> following revelations the Governor\u2019s Office allegedly hid the real data on nursing home deaths from public view.<\/p>\n<p>This followed Cuomo\u2019s controversial order last year mandating nursing homes to admit people who had tested positive for the virus, which led to a sharp rise in its spread within the facilities.<\/p>\n<p>Some people like Donna Johnson, who lost both her mother and father to the virus, have described Cuomo as a \u201chorrible person\u201d for putting his public image ahead of the health of elderly New Yorkers.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2373200\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2373200\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-2373200 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/dzm0ugdauank9.cloudfront.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/AP21046777759809.jpg\" alt=\"FILE- In this April 17, 2020, file photo, a patient is wheeled into Cobble Hill Health Center by emergency medical workers, in the Brooklyn borough of New York. Now that we know these were lies, I can say this,\u201d she stated. \u201cI think the man is a murderer\u2026I think the man is more like a serial killer\u202615,000 people and it\u2019s growing even today because seniors are dying in isolation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Johnson also added, she hopes justice will ultimately be served and it\u2019s \u201ctoo late\u201d for Cuomo to apologize for his mishandling of the pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Democrat governor recently addressed the controversy surrounding nursing home deaths in New York, but failed to apologize.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe should\u2019ve provided more information faster, we were too focused on doing the job and addressing the crisis of the moment,\u201d he stated. \u201cAnd we did not do a good enough job in providing information \u2014 I take total responsibility for that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The coronavirus-related death toll from New York nursing homes and long term care facilities has exceeded 15,000 people, while the state reported only 8,500 deaths last month.
