Good is considered being a \u201cwhite abolitionist\u201d and bad is considered being a \u201cwhite supremacist.\u201d&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThere is a regime of whiteness, and there are action-oriented white identities,\u201d the graphic reads. \u201cPeople who identify with whiteness are one of these. It\u2019s about time we build an ethnography of whiteness, since white people have been the ones writing about and governing others.\u201d&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_190959\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-190959\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-190959\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/White-Identities-Meter-293x300.png\" alt width=\"600\" height=\"615\" \/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-190959\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Barnor Hesse via Twitter<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span>A corresponding document details each of the eight white identities.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In the red zone of the graphic are white supremacist, white voyeurism, and white privilege. A white supremacist is someone who enjoys a \u201cclearly marked white society that preserves, names, and values white superiority.\u201d Under this definition, someone who opposes changing naval bases with Confederate soldier names would be considered a white supremacist.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Someone who identifies with \u201cwhite voyeurism\u201d is someone who seeks to control \u201cthe consumption and appropriation of non-whiteness,\u201d by having a fascination with black culture. An example would be consuming rap music as a white person. According to the graphic, this is \u201cconsuming black culture without the burden of blackness.\u201d&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Someone who exhibits \u201cwhite privilege\u201d is someone whose sworn goal is to diversity, yet they benefit from the existing supremacy, even though they critique it.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In the yellow zone of the graphic are \u201cwhite benefit\u201d and \u201cwhite confessional.\u201d White benefit is described as someone sympathetic to black issues, but only privately. These people won\u2019t speak or act in solidarity publicly because they \u201cbenefit\u201d from whiteness. The graphic claims that people of color can have \u201cwhite benefit\u201d as well.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>A person that exhibits \u201cwhite confessional\u201d is someone who seeks validation from people of color and will be held accountable by people of color. A white person who identifies as a \u201cwhite confessional\u201d is often seen on college campuses in the form of \u201cwhite caucuses.\u201d According to the<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yaf.org\/news\/elon-university-hosts-urgent-whites-only-caucus-to-process-complicity-in-racism\/\"><span>Young America\u2019s Foundation<\/span><\/a><span>, Elon University\u2019s School of Education is hosting a weekly \u201cWhite Caucus\u201d event where \u201cwhite-identifying\u201d students can \u201cunpack race and systemic oppression.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In the green zone of the graphic are \u201cwhite critical,\u201d \u201cwhite traitor,\u201d and \u201cwhite abolitionist.\u201d All of these \u201cidentities\u201d play a role in destroying \u201cwhiteness.\u201d Someone who is \u201cwhite critical\u201d takes time to expose the \u201cwhite regime,\u201d and refuses to be complicit in said regime. An individual who is \u201cwhite critical\u201d will also call out their fellow white man if they fail to live up to \u201cwhite critical\u201d status.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>A \u201cwhite traitor\u201d is someone who actively refuses to be complicit in the system. These people call out systemic racism with the direct intention to \u201csubvert white authority and tell the truth at whatever cost.\u201d The graphic claims we \u201cneed them to dismantle institutions.\u201d&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The golden standard of being white is being a \u201cwhite abolitionist.\u201d This is someone who changes institutions, works to dismantle whiteness, and will not allow whiteness to \u201creassert itself\u201d in society.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The author of the graphic, Barnor Hesse, is an associate professor at Northwestern University.
