Greg Abbott (R) to drop recent legislation that defines permanent sex reassignment surgery on children as child abuse. The Silicon Valley Masters of the Universe and their friends have called on Texas leaders to\u00a0\u201cabandon efforts to write discrimination into law.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Verge <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2022\/3\/11\/22972413\/google-meta-apple-microsoft-texas-anti-trans-legislation-opposition\">reports<\/a>\u00a0that Google, Apple, and Facebook are part of the 60 companies asking Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to shut down recently proposed legislation that would define sex reassignment surgery for children as child abuse. It\u2019s not just wrong, it has an impact on our employees, our customers, their families, and our work.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">Some of those that have signed the ad include companies like Microsoft, Salesforce, IBM, and PayPal, as well as corporations such as Johnson &#038; Johnson, Ikea, and the Gap. Apple CEO Tim Cook tweeted his thoughts on the legislation around the time the ad was published:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">As a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, I am deeply concerned about laws being enacted across the country, particularly those focused on our vulnerable youth. I stand with them and the families, loved ones, and allies who support them.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Tim Cook (@tim_cook) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/tim_cook\/status\/1502092765265420289?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 11, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The leftist outrage stems from\u00a0Texas Gov. Greg Abbott\u2019s recent instructions\u00a0to state agencies to investigate reports of children undergoing life-altering procedures to their biological development with the aim to alter their sex.<\/p>\n<p>Breitbart News\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/02\/24\/texas-governor-ag-life-altering-treatment-of-transgender-children-is-child-abuse\/\">reported on the situation<\/a>, writing:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Transgender advocates call giving children drugs that block the onset of puberty necessary to \u201cgender-affirming\u201d medical care \u2014 or care that advances the idea that one can choose their sex, alter their biological makeup, and even body-altering surgery.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTexas law imposes reporting requirements upon all licensed professionals who have direct contact with children who may be subject to such abuse, including doctors, nurses, and teachers, and provides criminal penalties for failure to report such child abuse,\u201d\u00a0Abbott\u00a0<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/21272649-abbott-letter-to-masters\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">wrote<\/a>\u00a0in a letter\u00a0to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.<\/p>\n<p>The letter comes after Paxton issued Opinion No. KP-0401 last week that called treating minors to extreme treatments is child abuse.<\/p>\n<p>Abbott wrote that \u201cit is already against the law to subject Texas children to a wide variety of elective procedures for gender transitioning, including reassignment surgeries that can cause sterilization, mastectomies, removals of otherwise healthy body parts, and administration of puberty-blocking drugs or supraphysiologic doses of testosterone or estrogen.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Read more at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2022\/3\/11\/22972413\/google-meta-apple-microsoft-texas-anti-trans-legislation-opposition\">the Verge here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><i>Lucas Nolan is a reporter for Breitbart News covering issues of free speech and online censorship.
