Cannon-Grant <a href=\"https:\/\/www.masslive.com\/news\/erry-2018\/09\/0e9fe18b8d9493\/who-is-ayanna-pressley-from-a.html\">reportedly<\/a> began working closely with &#8220;Squad&#8221; member Rep. Ayanna Pressley. She also became close with Boston Democratic Mayor Michelle Wu when the pair served on the Boston City Council.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section data-v-5e19d842=\"\"><\/section>\n<section data-v-5e19d842=\"\">\n<p>Cannon-Grant also endorsed former Massachusetts Democratic Rep. Joe Kennedy III during his unsuccessful 2020 Senate campaign.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section data-v-5e19d842=\"\">\n<p>Cannon-Grant, who is now the CEO of the non-profit Violence in Boston, as well as the group\u2019s founder, admitted in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=FWeYPvADfrY\">podcast<\/a> that since October she has been under federal investigation. In October 2021, federal authorities arrested her husband Clark Grant, and raided their home after he was <a href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.mad.238962\/gov.uscourts.mad.238962.1.1.pdf\">charged<\/a> with committing COVID-19 unemployment fraud and mortgage fraud.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section data-v-5e19d842=\"\">\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.mad.238962\/gov.uscourts.mad.238962.1.1.pdf\">complaint<\/a>, Clark Grant now stands accused of fraudulently claiming Violence in Boston&#8217;s bank account as his own personal property while applying for a $402,573 mortgage in May 2021. <\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section data-v-5e19d842=\"\">\n<p>According to the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bostonglobe.com\/2022\/03\/07\/metro\/boston-activist-under-scrutiny-by-federal-grand-jury\/\">Boston Globe<\/a>, <\/em>federal prosecutors are investigating if donations to Cannon-Grant&#8217;s charity were used to pay for personal expenses. The outlet stated that a federal grand jury subpoenaed records from the Suffolk District Attorney\u2019s office, a donor to Cannon-Grant\u2019s organization.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section data-v-5e19d842=\"\">\n<p>Cannon-Grant alleged during her podcast last Thursday that members of the black community who envied her success &#8220;partnered with white supremacy&#8221; to bring her down. &#8220;This is what happens when you&#8217;re successful. This is what happens when you don&#8217;t accept mediocrity. This is what happens when you&#8217;re successful and nobody can explain your success because it&#8217;s not theirs to explain,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section data-v-5e19d842=\"\">\n<p>Pressley cut ties with the activist during her 2020 reelection campaign after Cannon-Grant criticized Pressley&#8217;s challenger, a black Republican woman, for being married to a white man. &#8220;This heifer running against Ayanna Pressley, this one here with the white husband.
