Joe Manchin (D-WV) said the Biden administration hasn\u2019t done enough to combat inflation and called for increasing U.S. energy production to combat high gas prices.<\/p>\n<p>Fox Business Correspondent Hillary Vaughn asked, \u201cAnd on gas prices, the president said, two days ago, we can\u2019t do much to bring them down. Has he given up on trying to fix this problem?\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Manchin responded, \u201cI hope not. We\u2019re going to work hard. Basically, we\u2019ve got to produce. We\u2019ve got to get back in action. We\u2019ve got to do everything that we can to have confidence that we\u2019re going to produce the energy that we need in our country to defend [ourselves], keep ourselves strong, get these prices back down, and be able to defend our allies.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>CNN Chief Congressional Correspondent Manu Raju then asked, \u201cHas the administration done enough to deal with inflation?\u201d After Manchin said he\u2019d issue a statement on the matter, Raju followed up, \u201cBut, I mean, are you satisfied with what they\u2019ve done so far?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Manchin answered, \u201cNo, I think there\u2019s a lot more we can do. I really do. We have got to get back to the leasing process so people have stability, they understand that we\u2019re going to be in this game for a while. We can walk and chew gum. That means you can basically provide the energy that the country needs \u2014 the horsepower you receive from fossil, you don\u2019t receive that horsepower from renewables, not yet. We get hydrogen going, we get other things going\u2026geothermal and all that, we can. We\u2019re going to get there. But we\u2019re not there yet.
