Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ) said in a letter to the president that they were \u201chighly concerned\u201d about reports the White House is mulling the removal of anti-terror sanctions targeting the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will review any agreement closely, but from what we currently understand, it is hard to envision supporting an agreement along the lines being publicly discussed,\u201d they wrote, noting that Secretary of State Antony Blinken had told Congress he would keep the terrorism sanctions in place.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs the State Department has often noted in reference to a nuclear agreement with Iran, \u2018Nothing is agreed until everything is agreed.\u2019 We hope that no agreement is finalized without additionally aggressing these concerns,\u201d the Democrats added.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/Josh-Gottheimer-1.jpg?quality=90&#038;strip=all\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/Josh-Gottheimer-1.jpg?quality=90&#038;strip=all&#038;w=1024\" alt=\"Rep. Josh Gottheimer speaks during a news conference about rising national crime rates on Capitol Hill on February 9, 2022 in Washington, DC. <\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Drew Angerer<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The lawmakers also asked Biden whether the administration will seek congressional approval for any deal, what Iran\u2019s expected nuclear breakout time will be, and whether Russia will gain economically from a potential agreement.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/u-n-report-shows-iran-has-almost-enough-highly-enriched-uranium-for-a-nuclear-bomb-11646316141\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Wall Street Journal<\/a>\u00a0reported that while Washington is balking at Tehran\u2019s demands to lift the IRGC sanctions, any potential deal would likely lift similar anti-terror restrictions on dozens of other Iranian people and organizations. <\/p>\n<p>Negotiators in Vienna, where the US and Iran are holding indirect talks about reviving the 2015 agreement, said earlier this month that they were just days away from announcing a deal. Scientific progress in the nuclear field is related to our future needs, and if we give that up, will anyone help us in the future?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n<p>Four sources also told Reuters that Russia was the main obstacle to finalizing the deal, which is largely done.<\/p>\n<p>Iran\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Entekhab_News\/status\/1501905691325476870\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Entekhab News<\/a>\u00a0quoted Ulyanov as saying the final agreement would be approved by the parties to the deal.<\/p>\n<p>Blinken told CBS\u2019s \u201cFace the Nation\u201d last weekend that a US return to the deal would hinge on \u201cwhether we can resolve a couple of issues. If we can, we\u2019ll get back on the deal.
