The RNC used ExactTarget to send out various fundraising emails for former President Donald Trump in the months leading up to the January 6 Capitol riots. The committee subpoenaed Salesforce on February 23.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>The committee is seeking fundraising documents it believes contributed to the Capitol riots, according to an Axios\u00a0<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/rnc-lawsuit-salesforce-jan6-committee-05488227-4ea9-49ee-8208-52ead613db56.html?stream=politics&#038;utm_source=alert&#038;utm_medium=email&#038;utm_campaign=alerts_politics\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The committee wants a full accounting of RNC email data from Election Day through Jan. 6, 2021, including data on how many emails were sent, when they were sent, and how often recipients opened them and clicked through to donation pages.<\/p>\n<p>The committee is also seeking Salesforce data that could identify who at the RNC was actually logging into its software to craft and send those emails.<\/p>\n<p>It also wants any documentation on any internal Salesforce investigations into the RNC\u2019s use of its platform, as well as the company\u2019s communications with RNC employees.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The RNC\u2019s lawsuit is the first legal battle between the January 6 Committee and the Republican Party. Previously, only individual witnesses subpoenaed by the committee have sued. The list of subpoenaed witnesses who are now suing the committee include former President Donald Trump, his former Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, and his former adviser Stephen Miller.<\/p>\n<p>The RNC alleges the subpoena violates their First and Fourteenth Amendment rights.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>The lawsuit\u00a0<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/click.campaigns.rnchq.com\/?qs=eb0063faca6a695ba90a40e3b9a41a32710556385038ac8338e13425ed0f2000f8d3aba6e905922a34dcd70a1a044d2f\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The Select Committee\u2019s fishing expedition would only serve to chill the RNC\u2019s and its supporters\u2019 First Amendment rights, while providing their political opponents with an all-access pass to confidential RNC political strategies and the personal information of millions of its supporters.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The RNC\u2019s Chief Counsel Justin Reimer accused the committee of weaponizing \u201cCongress\u2019 investigatory powers by issuing this staggeringly broad subpoena which tramples on core First Amendment rights of the RNC and millions of Americans.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_11457282\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/media.breitbart.com\/media\/2019\/09\/Ronna-McDaniel.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">President Donald Trump speaks after his introduction by RNC Chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel at a fundraising breakfast in a restaurant in New York, New York on December 2, 2017. (Photo credit should read MANDEL NGAN\/AFP\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Reimer\u00a0<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/gop.com\/press-release\/rnc-files-lawsuit-against-pelosi-jan-6-committee-and-its-members\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The RNC has sued to stop the January 6th Committee from unlawfully seizing confidential information about the internal activities of the Republican Party and millions of its supporters which is completely unrelated to the attack on the Capitol. Nancy Pelosi and the Committee have weaponized Congress\u2019 investigatory powers by issuing this staggeringly broad subpoena which tramples on core First Amendment rights of the RNC and millions of Americans. The RNC is challenging this unconstitutional overreach so that one of America\u2019s two major political parties may not use the force of government to unlawfully seize the private and sensitive information of the other.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In a press release, the RNC\u00a0<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/gop.com\/press-release\/rnc-files-lawsuit-against-pelosi-jan-6-committee-and-its-members\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">noted<\/a>\u00a0it had nothing to do with the violence that occurred on January 6 and called attention to the bomb that was placed outside of the RNC\u2019s headquarters, something the January 6 Committee still has not investigated.<\/p>\n<p>The press release\u00a0<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/gop.com\/press-release\/rnc-files-lawsuit-against-pelosi-jan-6-committee-and-its-members\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">suggested<\/a>\u00a0the committee look at Democrats if they are concerned about politicians who \u201clie to their donors to dupe them out of money\u201d:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>In 2020, DCCC Chair Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (D-NY) sent multiple emails falsely claiming that President Trump was \u201c<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/click.campaigns.rnchq.com\/?qs=eb0063faca6a695b1f04d4b529a10386e794799ec2cc706a09fc462856f92355f115c0664b4e7ead1bad1c97455b81a7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rigging<\/a>\u201d\u00a0the <a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/click.campaigns.rnchq.com\/?qs=eb0063faca6a695bc5dafbc8207001de0b8ade4d63d8c9b3ecc2ba3934d9608fa051b43d78f237883259edde4d1cc791\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">election<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC) sent emails falsely accusing Republican officials of \u201c<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/click.campaigns.rnchq.com\/?qs=eb0063faca6a695b8241dfd11d1afcb1f0f4768e86f5cdffe8790850e8746fed3102481f9328d4d52addda3275fcb325\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rigging<\/a>\u00a0<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/click.campaignsrnchq.com\/?qs=eb0063faca6a695b1c71f225c89f5a7b3c287e90c02fcea22616e53e7aa1511067cab7ebca91cbc773f5c2c00c83a590\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the voting laws<\/a>\u201d and having \u201c<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/click.campaigns.rnchq.com\/?qs=eb0063faca6a695be3c3a09dc0e91b07b8f40aa6e8deca183779eea2a06be8fc5bab4a1a3e3a77e77824c181f0ab6643\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rigged<\/a> the voting laws.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The far-left Progressive Turnout Project sent a fundraising appeal claiming Mitch McConnell had committed \u201c<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/click.campaigns.rnchq.com\/?qs=eb0063faca6a695bd510815c040181ee0d074ea7fbc9d48b7ef0783ec3797fa178933e80057c24b6d6d1e703ae673247\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">treason<\/a>\u201d and had worked to \u201crig\u201d the impeachment trial.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The RNC also called the committee \u201cillegitimate\u201d due to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi\u2019s (D-CA) refusal to seat the two representatives that House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) appointed, Reps.
