But to the horror of Al Gore superfans and radical environmentalists, the eco-brainwashing does not seem to have worked on the American people.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rasmussenreports.com\/public_content\/politics\/current_events\/environment_energy\/70_favor_increased_u_s_oil_and_gas_production?utm_campaign=RR03072022DN&#038;utm_source=criticalimpact&#038;utm_medium=email\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">poll<\/a> by Rasmussen Reports revealed that a whopping 70 percent of likely voters favor increasing U.S. oil and gas production to discourage dependence on foreign energy imports. Only \u201c18% oppose a policy of encouraging U.S. energy independence,\u201d according to Rasmussen. <em>The Washington Post <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/climate-solutions\/2021\/03\/30\/climate-curious-electric-cars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">claimed<\/a> that buying an electric vehicle is one of the best ways to help the environment because gas-powered cars are \u201cwasteful\u201d and \u201cbad for the environment.\u201d The poll surveyed 1,000 \u201cU.S. Likely Voters\u201d and took place on March 3 and 6.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>ABC World News Tonight<\/em>, <em>CBS Evening News <\/em>and <em>NBC Nightly News<\/em> totally ignored the poll during their March 7 evening shows.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/climate-solutions\/2021\/03\/30\/climate-curious-electric-cars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>The Washington Post<\/em><\/a> and other liberal outlets, like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/opinion\/articles\/2022-01-03\/why-2022-is-the-year-to-buy-your-first-luxury-electric-car\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bloomberg News<\/a>, have repeatedly called for Americans to ditch gas-powered cars for so-called eco-friendly alternatives, like electric vehicles. <em>Post<\/em> opinion columnist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/people\/catherine-rampell\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Catherine Rampell<\/a> even said the quiet part out loud in a Feb. 10 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/opinions\/2022\/02\/10\/gas-prices-up-tax-holiday-not-the-answer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">op-ed<\/a>: \u201cIn the long run, we want incentives that entice people to shift their behavior toward less greenhouse-gas-intensive technologies.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Tesla Motors CEO and founder <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tesla.com\/elon-musk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Elon Musk<\/a>, however, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1499907549746937860\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tweeted<\/a> that soaring gas prices demands increased production: \u201cHate to say it, but we need to increase oil &#038; gas output immediately. Extraordinary times demand extraordinary measures.\u201d Musk also <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1499909806504779779\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">conceded<\/a> that producing more oil and gas might hurt his business: \u201cObviously, this would negatively affect Tesla, but sustainable energy solutions simply cannot react instantaneously to make up for Russian oil &#038; gas exports.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet tw-align-center\">\n<p>Hate to say it, but we need to increase oil &#038; gas output immediately.<\/p>\n<p>Extraordinary times demand extraordinary measures.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Elon Musk (@elonmusk) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1499907549746937860?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 5, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Vice President Kamala Harris and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg asserted differently during a Clean Transit event on March 7. Harris <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/speeches-remarks\/2022\/03\/07\/remarks-by-vice-president-harris-at-a-clean-transit-event\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">opined<\/a>: \u201cImagine a future\u201d where the freight trucks and vehicles that support the economy \u201cproduced zero emissions.\u201d Buttigieg <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=7klJLu0kXgo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">absurdly claimed at the same event<\/a> that Americans from \u201crural to suburban to urban communities can all benefit from the gas savings of driving an EV.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Does it matter to leftists that the average cost of an electric vehicle in April 2021 was $51,532, <a href=\"https:\/\/money.com\/electric-car-vs-gas-car-costs-biden\/%5C\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to Money.com?<\/a> The average American household in 2021 was $79,900, according to a Department of Housing and Urban Development <a href=\"https:\/\/www.huduser.gov\/portal\/datasets\/il\/il21\/Medians2021.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n[embedded content]\n<\/p>\n<p>It seems some don\u2019t mind the cost of EVs. Talk show host and comedian Stephen Colbert gave a moralizing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbusters.org\/blogs\/business\/joseph-vazquez\/2022\/03\/08\/comedian-tesla-owner-worth-75m-says-its-morally-good-pay\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lecture<\/a> to Americans about the morality of paying higher gas prices on March 7. He said: \u201cA clean conscience is worth a buck or two.\u201d He continued, \u201cI\u2019m willing to pay $4 a gallon.
