Terra, a Florida resident and United States Air Force veteran, was nervous about getting naked in front of fellow contestant Shaun, the New York Post <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/03\/07\/air-force-veteran-becomes-first-ever-trans-woman-to-compete-on-naked-and-afraid\"><span>reported<\/span><\/a><span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThings on the outside aren\u2019t what they are supposed to be at this point in my transgender transition,\u201d Terra explained during the episode. \u201cI do have breasts, and I do have the male genitalia still.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cWhen it comes to my partner, they\u2019re either gonna accept everything or they\u2019re gonna go off the deep end, and we\u2019re gonna see some bad s***,\u201d the Floridian worried before meeting the other contestant.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>However, Terra had nothing to worry about as Shaun, who hailed from South Africa, didn\u2019t mind Terra\u2019s appearance in the least.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cYeah, you\u2019re unique,\u201d he said after seeing Terra completely naked at first. \u201cIt is a bit of a shock to me, but we\u2019re all unique and special.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>He continued, \u201cI\u2019m open-minded, and we\u2019re going to do this together. Don\u2019t worry, I\u2019ve got your back.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Terra replied with a very relieved, \u201cI appreciate that. And I\u2019ve got your back, too. Hearing that is a big thing to me,\u201d the Florida resident continued. \u201cWe\u2019re gonna do this, we\u2019re gonna be OK.\u201d <\/span><span>The pair of survivalists shared a hug before embarking on their quest to survive. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The premise of \u201cNaked and Afraid\u201d is two people, usually one man and one woman, get dropped in the wilderness with no food, water, supplies, or clothing. The pair must make shelter, start a fire, find food, and survive the elements for 21 days all without wearing any clothes. This latest episode which aired Sunday was set in Zambia, Africa.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Ultimately, Shaun had to be evacuated after suffering a concussion three days into filming. Terra survived for all 21 days but did suffer a lacerated nipple. The Air Force veteran was very used to using survivalist skills as an avid bow hunter. This made Terra \u201cabsolutely prepared\u201d to take on the challenge.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cPeople like me don\u2019t get chosen for things like this,\u201d Terra said. The contestant \u201calways felt female\u201d growing up but didn\u2019t \u201ctransition\u201d until later in life.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI\u2019m not a gender, I\u2019m not a label, I\u2019m just a human,\u201d Terra said at the end of the episode. \u201cIt\u2019s empowering. I\u2019m going through my own transitional journey. And I know now that if I just stick with it, there\u2019s nothing I cannot do in this world.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Terra is not the first trans person to appear on \u201cNaked and Afraid,\u201d the Post reported. Quince Mountain is a biological woman who identifies as a trans man and appeared on an episode during Season 10 of the series. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Quince, an Illinois resident, got dropped off in the Honduran jungle with Florida police officer Teresa Owens.
