This quirky superhero movie takes a different approach by replacing massive explosions and ultra-choreographed fight scenes with deep dives into character development. It\u2019s impossible not to fall in love with these characters as they\u2019re making you laugh and smile in recognition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>An early review of The Daily Wire\u2019s latest entertainment offering proves that not all movies need splashy CGI to be compelling. Bounding Into Comics reviewer Slade Hale discussed how the satirical superhero flick manages to recall everything fans used to love about superhero movies with zero hidden political agenda. \u201cThe Hyperions\u201d is enjoyable because it\u2019s not trying too hard to be something it\u2019s not.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201c\u2018The Hyperions\u2019 boasts some of the best cinematography and pacing in recent memory,\u201d Hale <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/boundingintocomics.com\/2022\/03\/08\/the-hyperions-review-a-superhero-dramedy-with-unbelievable-heart\/\"><span>writes<\/span><\/a><span>, noting the film\u2019s obsessive attention to detail and making the 1970s nostalgia feel realistic. Again, there won\u2019t be any insane special effects, but instead there is beauty in the subtlety. Director Jon McDonald instead highlights character motivations and lets the actors\u2019 abilities shine through.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>That cast includes Cary Elwes (\u201cThe Princess Bride\u201d) starring as Professor Mandulbaum with a \u201cspot-on British accent.\u201d Hale says, \u201cElwes not only cranks out a dynamite performance, but he ends up stealing every single scene he\u2019s in.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Besides Elwes, the all star cast includes Penelope Mitchell (\u201cHellboy\u201d), Tanner Buchanan (\u201cCobra Kai\u201d), Elaine Tan (\u201cTully\u201d), and Alphonso McAuley (\u201cWalk of Shame\u201d). Each offers a unique element that contributes to the overall narrative, which focuses on the permanence of family bonds.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The reviewer says the film \u201cshines\u201d because of how no one is the main character. Instead, each perspective combines to form a nuanced tidbit of the overall story.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cNo single character in the film is considered the lead. Instead, each one acts as a cog in a giant wheel that spins the story around through a number of different perspectives. The key theme of the film is the importance of family, no matter how imperfect that dynamic might be,\u201d Hale writes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe Hyperions\u201d is completely different from Daily Wire Entertainment\u2019s most recent thriller, \u201cShut In,\u201d and both of those are nothing like the first film released, \u201cRun Hide Fight.\u201d Different still is the highly anticipated Western drama \u201cTerror on the Prairie\u201d starring Gina Carano, which will debut this summer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>However, each project shares the quality of good old-fashioned entertainment with themes that resonate and are free from propaganda. \u201cHyperions\u201d is a little bit wistful, quite funny, and ultimately uplifting. The 1970s imagery only helps reinforce this feeling of the good old days.
