A CNN spokesperson confirmed the image is fake.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Over 2 million Ukrainians have fled the country since the Russian invasion began Feb. 24, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/world\/live-blog\/ukraine-russia-war-live-updates-ukraine-s-defiant-leader-vows-n1291128\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">NBC News<\/a>. The situation is being described as the \u201cworst refugee crisis in Europe since World War II,\u201d the outlet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/world\/live-blog\/ukraine-russia-war-live-updates-u-s-blocks-poland-s-n1291270\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Now, an Instagram <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.ph\/xaqtN\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">image<\/a> appears to show a CNN interview with New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, where she apparently shared her thoughts on the invasion of Ukraine. The post, which has garnered over 850 likes, showcases a CNN chyron that reads, \u201cOcasio-Cortez says she feared being raped during Ukraine invasion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The screengrab has been digitally edited. A reverse image search revealed the screengrab of Ocasio-Cortez is from a CNN <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/videos\/politics\/2021\/08\/09\/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-insurrection-bash-newday-vpx.cnn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">interview<\/a> conducted in August 2021. The interview is part of a series titled, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/cnnpressroom.blogs.cnn.com\/2021\/08\/06\/cnn-introduces-new-series-being\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Being AOC<\/a>,\u201d with one episode featuring the New York lawmaker\u2019s recollection of her feelings during the Jan. 6 insurrection.<\/p>\n<p>Though the interview does not feature a CNN chyron, the headline written beside the video reads, \u201cAlexandria Ocasio-Cortez reveals she feared being raped during insurrection.\u201d CNN host Dana Bash had asked Ocasio-Cortez whether she felt as if she was going to be raped during the Jan. 6, 2021 riot to which Ocasio-Cortez replied, \u201cYeah. Yeah I thought I was.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In an emailed statement to Check Your Fact, Senior Director of CNN Communications Bridget Leininger confirmed, \u201cThis framegrab is doctored by someone else.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2022\/03\/02\/fact-check-cnn-tweet-ukraine-afghanistan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Did CNN Lie About The First American Being Killed In The War Between Ukraine And Russia?)<\/a><\/p>\n<p>CNN has repeatedly been the subject of false headlines and chyrons.
