Version: 4.0.47--><p class=\"subheading\">Through teacher training lectures with titles like \u201cCultivating Anti-Racists and Activists in Kindergarten,\u201d \u201cDecolonizing the Minds of Second Graders,\u201d and \u201cThe White People Way,\u201d the nation\u2019s leading accreditation association for private schools is instructing educators to adapt a race-essentialist and cultural Marxist curriculum for children as young as five years old.<\/p>\n<p>The National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) hosts professional development conferences for teachers at schools in their network, which promote a race-based curriculum and grading system \u2014 including tips on how to avoid transparency with parents \u2014 according to a trove of footage reviewed by Breitbart News.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>The principal professional development conference hosted by NAIS for teachers, The People of Color Conference, was started by \u201cEducational Diversity\/Equity Consultant\u201d and former NAIS Director of Diversity Randolph Carter, who is a self-described Black Panther.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"video-src-attr\">National Association of Independent Schools, People of Color Conference<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe NAIS People of Color Conference (PoCC) is the flagship of the National Association of Independent Schools\u2019 commitment to equity and justice in teaching, learning, and sustainability for independent schools,\u201d NAIS boasts on their website.<\/p>\n<p>Carter is the founder and associate director of a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization called East Ed, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/randolph-carter-1a35284\/\"><span>according to his LinkedIn<\/span><\/a>, which offers services to PreK-12 schools across the country seeking to \u201cdevelop a clear implementation plan that connects all diversity and equity work,\u201d according to the now-defunct East Ed website that was accessed by Breitbart News <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210306005241\/https:\/\/www.easted.org\/about-east-ed\"><span>via Wayback Machine<\/span><\/a>.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cAs both the founder of East Ed and a member of the Black Panther Party, Randolph has devoted his career to promoting equity and diversity in education and communities,\u201d his bio on the East Ed website said, when the page was active. \u201c[W]hile at the National Association of Independent Schools, he directed their equity programming and founded two of their signature projects: People of Color Conference and Student Diversity Leadership Conference.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Carter is also listed as director of another organization called Mid West Ed Collaborative, which states its mission is \u201cto serve as a resource to schools, colleges, families and agencies and support the establishment of equitable, anti-bias, multicultural environments,\u201d according to the Mid West Ed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.midwestedcollab.org\/our-mission\"><span>website<\/span><\/a>.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Despite having parted ways from NAIS, Carter is still active in the People of Color Conference he founded and participated in a recent one \u2014 which took place in December 2021 \u2014 featuring lectures such as \u201cSmall Activists, Big Impact: Cultivating Anti-Racists and Activists in Kindergarten,\u201d \u201cDecolonizing the Minds of Second Graders,\u201d and \u201cThe White People Way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In one session of the People of Color Conference held just a few months ago, a lecturer provides tools and materials to help educators in the NAIS private school network train five year olds in kindergarten on how to be \u201csocial justice warriors,\u201d according to footage obtained by Breitbart News. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cKindergartners are natural social justice warriors,\u201d the NAIS teacher training titled \u201cSmall Activists, Big Impact,\u201d begins. \u201cAnd I think if we just build upon the mindset of the kindergartner, that is fantastic, you can get them to do fabulous things in the social justice realm.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s a transformation period that happens. Kindergartners and a lot of kids, in the beginning, when they\u2019re five and six, the mindset is a very self-centered mindset, right? \u2018Me, me, me,\u2019 just \u2018me\u2019 thinking, right? So we have to think about how can we start with, you know, \u2018yeah, think about yourself, think about your identity, think about who you are,\u2019 and then we\u2019re gonna move, slowly move. So, I read this article by Professor Bree Picower, called \u2018Using Their Words: Six Elements of Social Justice: Curriculum Design for the Elementary [School] Classroom,\u2019 and it just was absolutely fascinating, and I thought that would be really helpful for me framing my year about what I hope to accomplish,\u201d the lecturer continues.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"video-src-attr\">National Association of Independent Schools, People of Color Conference<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Another lecture in the series features a teacher discussing how\u2013dressed in a bullet-proof vest, goggles, and a gas mask\u2013she participated protests in Portland, Oregon, following the murder of George Floyd. Her activism \u201chelped me think about my area of influence in terms of being a teacher and how to really push these concepts forward,\u201d she explains in remarks titled, \u201cDecolonizing the Minds of Second Graders.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cMoving into how it shows up in my classroom, this idea of settler colonialism was something that I started to really understand as a root of a lot of the systemic racism in this country,\u201d she added. \u201cSo I want to give you a definition of that; it\u2019s an ongoing system of power that perpetuates the genocide and repression of indigenous peoples and cultures. And so, we are settler colonialists, right? We perpetuate that unless we are indigenous to the land that we are on.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"video-src-attr\">National Association of Independent Schools, People of Color Conference<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In the same lecture, the speaker says later that \u201cindigenizing the classroom\u201d also includes avoiding terms that she perceives as \u201ccapitalistic,\u201d such as the word \u201cgoal.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cOften in education we talk about \u2018learning goals\u2019 or \u2018learning targets,\u2019 and a part of indigenizing the classroom is also breaking down how \u2026 we view our classroom culture. So that word \u2018goal\u2019 to me feels very corporate and very capitalistic \u2026 so instead I really would like to flip that and use the word \u2018intention,\u2019\u201d the lecturer explains.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B4\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>A separate session presented at the 2021 conference features a slide titled, \u201cBurn Shit Down,\u201d with a lecturer who describes herself as a vice principal urging educators to \u201c[recognize] when systems are broken and [imagine] something new,\u201d including examples such as \u201cdesigning equitable grading practices.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_20163154\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/media.breitbart.com\/media\/2022\/03\/NAISpocc.png\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">A slide from the NAIS People of Color Conference<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Another session in the NAIS conference explains tips on how to conceal curriculum planning from students\u2019 families \u2014 advising teachers listening to avoid \u201c[leading] people to feel like they have a say in the process when they actually don\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo as you\u2019re in this planning process, there is the important question of how we share progress and what kind of transparency is going to be optimal. It\u2019s what you\u2019ll share, how you\u2019ll share it, which constituencies need to hear what at what time. It\u2019s a fine balance \u2026 because the on the one hand, the sharing makes it clear that this work is going on, this work as a priority, we\u2019re excited about these changes. But in a way, sharing too much and kind of, like, giving more updates can sometimes lead people to feel like they have a say in the process when they actually don\u2019t,\u201d the speaker says. \u201cLike that\u2019s more opportunities for feedback that is obstructive or negative or asking a lot of pointed questions.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo it almost invites pushback in situations where, you know, you have these people, people are in different places \u2026 being on board. So it is worth thinking through in what you know about your own community, and faculty, and families is the ways of sharing information and what\u2019s going to be optimal for each group, and how much, and at what time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"video-src-attr\">National Association of Independent Schools, People of Color Conference<\/span><\/p>\n<p>There was also a lecture at the recent conference describing \u201cThe White People Way,\u201d where the speaker warned of \u201cwhite people\u201d even tacitly criticizing race-essentialist, \u201canti-racist\u201d curricula.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe next pitfall we\u2019re going to talk about can often be a sneaky pitfall because of the pervasiveness of white supremacy culture within independent schools in particular,\u201d the speaker says.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn order to recognize that you are experiencing the \u2018White People Way\u2019 pitfall, you can look for signs of white supremacy culture; so seeing things like a focus on perfectionism, a focus on power hoarding, not being willing to share, and a focus on product. Additionally, you may hear comments about, \u2018oh, we need to meet people where they are,\u2019 rather than pushing the work further. You may see literal white tears and that can be a tool to disrupt the work. You may also see policing of language and tone, or arguments about semantics \u2014 and we are seeing this I think, really strongly nationally with the backlash around CRT [critical race theory], we\u2019ve seen it with white privilege and with a variety of other terms \u2014 arguing about those terms prevents us from moving forward on the work,\u201d the speaker continues.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"video-src-attr\">National Association of Independent Schools, People of Color Conference<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"video-src-attr\">National Association of Independent Schools, People of Color Conference<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"video-src-attr\">National Association of Independent Schools, People of Color Conference<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Neither the NAIS nor Randolph Carter responded when reached for comment by Breitbart News.<\/p>\n<p>The lessons imparted by the NAIS to teachers in the People of Color Conference are manifesting in private schools across the country.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>St. Paul\u2019s Episcopal School in Oakland, California, now teaches \u201cFourth Grade Black Panther Party Studies\u201d as part of its curriculum, for example.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cFourth grade learners received a distinguished visitor from the neighborhood. Ericka Huggins is a former Black Panther Party for Self Defense member, educator, and activist who shared her insights with our students,\u201d the school boasts <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spes.org\/news-detail?pk=1393331&#038;fromId=260809\"><span>on its website<\/span><\/a>. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Choate Rosemary Hall, an elite boarding school in Connecticut ranked among the top schools in the country, hosted self-described \u201cMarxist\u201d and race activist Angela Davis to speak at the school\u2019s annual \u201cDiversity Day\u201d this year.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The school newspaper <a href=\"https:\/\/thechoatenews.choate.edu\/2022\/01\/21\/iconic-social-justice-activist-angela-davis-visits-campus\/\"><span>touted<\/span><\/a> her keynote speech: \u201cIn accordance with this year\u2019s Diversity Day theme, \u2018Leveling Up: Black Power in the Next Generation,\u2019 \u2026 Dr. Davis was selected to speak to the community, because her legacy has been a testament to what it means to \u2018level up\u2019 and because of her iconic status as a social-justice activist.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>An eighth grade history teacher at St. Matthew\u2019s Parish School in Pacific Palisades, California, asked his class to discuss, \u201cCan the Constitution be both a white supremacist and an aspirational document at the same time?\u201d according to a post the teacher made on his social media, which also shows him studying NAIS PoCC materials in another post.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_20163274\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Instagram-Constitution.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-20163274\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Instagram-Constitution.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1389\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Instagram post by 8th grade history teacher<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>And the Westminster Schools in Atlanta, Georgia, has students sign an \u201cAnti-Discrimination Pledge,\u201d which states, \u201cOn my honor I commit to confronting racism and discrimination by working with my peers and teachers to help create a safe, supportive and respectful environment for everyone. Along with my community, I will participate in personal education that equips me with the skills to be anti-racist and that empowers this community to be inclusive to all of its members,\u201d according to a copy obtained by Breitbart News.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_20163218\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/WESTMINSTER.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-20163218\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/WESTMINSTER.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1180\" height=\"882\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">\u201cAnti-Discrimination Pledge\u201d distributed by the Westminster Schools<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The materials cited in this report were provided to Breitbart News by a network of <a href=\"https:\/\/undercovermother.substack.com\/\"><span>\u201cUndercover Mothers\u201d<\/span><\/a> across the country, who are working together to expose and combat rampant political indoctrination in their children\u2019s schools, declining academic standards, and opaque school governance and financial management \u2014 which they believe stems from the NAIS. The informal and independent group has participants from all across the political spectrum, including a number of moms who were once politically active Democrats.<\/p>\n<p>NAIS member private schools across America are including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/02\/09\/exclusive-undercover-mothers-moms-form-covert-network-to-expose-indoctrination-programs-plaguing-private-schools-across-the-country\/\"><span>provisions in enrollment contracts<\/span><\/a> prohibiting parents from \u201c[voicing] strong disagreement\u201d with school policy or curricula, under threat of expulsion, so the identities of the mothers have been withheld due to fear of retribution.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo parent of any socio-economic, or social, or racial, or class category wants to send their kids in kindergarten to become an activist,\u201d one mother told Breitbart News. \u201cThere\u2019s nothing you can talk about [in private schools] without a Marxist overtone, not even an undertone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey want to simplify it in a digestible way, so they just refer to it as DEI [diversity, equity, and inclusion] or CRT \u2014 but it is a far more nefarious agenda that cannot be captured in a three letter acronym \u2026 And the simplest way to say it is to say it\u2019s a Marxist agenda. Not because it\u2019s hyperbole, but because they say so,\u201d the mother, whose identity must remain concealed, continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis isn\u2019t about giving opportunity, this is about equalizing. If you cannot raise the floor \u2014 this is the fundamental failure of the left, of the even the center left \u2014 they could not raise the floor.
