But the alternative is a sure problem \u2013 not arming people who are fighting for their very sovereignty and letting them get slaughtered in an unjust imperial invasion,\u201d Nick Pappas <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NickAPappas\/status\/1501218127073484802\">tweeted<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span>Louise Mensch, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LouiseMensch\/status\/1501226008434909187\"><span>responding<\/span><\/a><span> to another tweet calling Omar\u2019s comment \u201cstupid,\u201d added,\u201dOh I disagree. I think it\u2019s intentionally malicious. @IlhanMN, those who shill for Vladimir Putin at this time will not be forgotten or forgiven.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cTell this to 8 years old Tanya, that died from dehydration after being stuck under the rubble of her house after Russian shelling,\u201d @tarasmi tweeted in response to a photo posted by Ukrainian Member of Parliament Lesia Vasylenko.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">This child died of dehydration in <\/span><span class=\"r-18u37iz\">#Mariupol<\/span><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">. The city is blockaded for days now. 3 times <\/span><span class=\"r-18u37iz\">#Russia<\/span><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\"> broke the promise of a humanitarian corridor, shooting missiles at civilians. Maybe now is time for <\/span><span class=\"r-18u37iz\">#NoFlyZoneOverUkraine<\/span><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">?\u201d Vasylenko had captioned a photo of the dead girl.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">Ilhan Omar, who said \u2018some people did something,\u2019 is now saying the people of <\/span><span class=\"r-18u37iz\">#Ukraine<\/span><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\"> should be left to die. Let that sink in,\u201d Heshmat Alavi <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/HeshmatAlavi\/status\/1501260256038502401\">said<\/a>, clearly referencing Omar\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/rep-ilhan-omar-says-she-doesnt-regret-comparing-us-israel-to-terror-groups\/\">previous comments<\/a> appearing to trivialize the 9\/11 terror attacks on U.S. soil.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn the other hand, the consequences of not doing that are predictable and definitely disastrous,\u201d economist Wojtek Kopczuk <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/wwwojtekk\/status\/1501238178468200448\">added<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>University of Illinois International Relations professor Nicholas Grossman argued that Omar\u2019s assessment might be a bit wide of the mark, noting that the weapons headed to Ukraine were not going to militia groups whose loyalties were unknown.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are consequences of not arming Ukraine too, you know. And in Ukraine, unlike in, say, Syria, outside weapons go to an organized state military, not militias of uncertain loyalties (which is one reason US &#038; allies have sent a lot more, and more advanced, weapons to Ukraine),\u201d he <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NGrossman81\/status\/1501216881197424641\">explained<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEasy to criticize and question.
