Michael Cloud (R-TX) is introducing legislation to require the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) to erase all firearm transaction data it has accumulated.<\/p>\n<p>Cloud\u2019s aim is to prevent the ATF from developing a de facto gun registry on Americans.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>On February 1, 2022, Breitbart News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/02\/01\/report-joe-bidens-atf-has-stockpiled-over-900m-records-of-gun-purchases\/\">pointed to<\/a> a report claiming the ATF had stockpiled over 900 million records related to firearm purchases\/transfers.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>The report, published by the <em>Washington Free Beacon<\/em>,\u00a0<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/guns\/biden-admin-has-records-on-nearly-one-billion-gun-sales\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">claimed<\/a>, \u201cThe ATF\u00a0disclosed\u00a0to lawmakers that it manages a database of 920,664,765 firearm purchase records, including both digital and hard copy versions of these transactions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rep.
