The bill also allows parents to sue school districts if the policy is violated. Proponents of the pro-parental control law say the bill gives decision-making power back to the parents over their children&#8217;s education.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section data-v-123b907a=\"\">\n<p>&#8220;I didn&#8217;t call the bill the no gay whatever bill,&#8221; Florida state Senator Dennis Baxley said, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.abcactionnews.com\/news\/state\/final-vote-expected-on-dont-say-gay-bill-in-fla-senate-tuesday\">according<\/a> to local WFTS-TV. &#8220;This has all been fabricated by the media, my friend. This does one simple thing, it decides who&#8217;s in charge,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section data-v-123b907a=\"\">\n<p>Meanwhile the Biden administration&#8217;s Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona, who is pro-masking school-aged children, called the bill &#8220;hateful&#8221; and warned the state about federal funding if the bill supposedly violates federal civil rights law.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section data-v-123b907a=\"\">\n<p>&#8220;The Department of Education has made clear that all schools receiving federal funding must follow federal civil rights law, including Title IX&#8217;s protections against discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. We stand with our LGBTQ+ students in Florida and across the country, and urge Florida leaders to make sure all their students are protected and supported,&#8221; Cardona said.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section data-v-123b907a=\"\">\n<p>White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki mimicked that language.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section data-v-123b907a=\"\">\n<figure class=\"kg-card kg-embed-card\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The White House is lying to you about this Florida bill.
