Scirotto served as police chief for six months.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section data-v-123b907a=\"\">\n<p>Fort Lauderdale City Manager Chris Lagerbloom said on Friday that the report revealed the diversity promotion was conducted illegally, contrary to what Scirotto told a <a href=\"https:\/\/wsvn.com\/news\/local\/broward\/former-fort-lauderdale-police-chief-explains-minority-officer-promotions-that-led-to-firing\/\">Fox News affiliate<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section data-v-123b907a=\"\">\n<p>&#8220;We strive to be diverse in our organization. We strive to represent the community that we serve. There&#8217;s just certain lawful ways to allow that diversity to happen,&#8221; Lagerbloom said. &#8220;And in this case, the investigative report indicated we didn&#8217;t quite follow the law in how we were working towards those diverse positions.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section data-v-123b907a=\"\">\n<p>&#8220;The promotions that I made are of the minority candidates, were because they were exceptional candidates,&#8221; Scirotto defended, &#8220;and they excelled in every level of the organization. They deserved to be promoted, and by the way, they happened to be minority.
