Alongside the death of George Floyd, the death of Taylor provoked calls for police reform ahead of the general election, from which President Joe Biden emerged victorious.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>However, the mainstream media narrative of the incident was often embroiled in political narratives and far from forthright.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In a new book due for release on March 15 from The Daily Wire, Sergeant John Mattingly \u2014 the lead officer on the scene \u2014 details the true account of the tragic night. In <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/12-Seconds-Dark-Officers-Firsthand\/dp\/1956007016\"><span>12 Seconds in the Dark: A Police Officer\u2019s Firsthand Account of the Breonna Taylor Raid<\/span><\/a><span>, <\/span><span>Mattingly \u201ctakes readers inside the Louisville Metro Police Department\u2019s response to suspected criminal activity that night, debunking lie after lie about what happened.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Contrary to the media\u2019s narrative, Mattingly writes that his team followed standard forced-entry protocol and explicitly identified themselves \u2014 even allotting the suspect more time than usual to respond.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Indeed, several family members of African Americans who died during encounters with police \u2014 including the mother of Breonna Taylor \u2014 have taken <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/benefitting-off-the-blood-of-our-loved-ones-mothers-of-tamir-rice-breonna-taylor-slam-patrisse-cullors-black-lives-matter\"><span>aim<\/span><\/a><span> at the national Black Lives Matter organization and its former co-founder, Patrisse Cullors, for profiting off the deaths of their loved ones. Last year, Cullors <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-blm-co-founder-patrisse-cullors-resigns-amid-controversy?itm_source=parsely-api%3Futm_content%3Dnews&#038;_hsmi=130234787&#038;_hsenc=p2ANqtz-_bPMdXg3MZDYypvmyRXKNy_2TEFwcVtT7EKD6AssAxzhezN7Q6JrjTST1xg7jAjy3Uv3o1-TYolu_O5fjQYAEcvvEYBA\"><span>resigned<\/span><\/a><span> from the controversial activist organization following revelations of her multimillion-dollar home buying spree.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cWe never hired them to be the representatives in the fight for justice for our dead loved ones murdered by the police,\u201d said mothers Samaria Rice and Lisa Simpson in a statement. \u201cThe \u2018activists\u2019 have events in our cities and have not given us anything substantial for using our loved ones\u2019 images and names on their flyers.
