Chris Pappas (D-NH) appears to have flip-flopped on his anti-American-energy record, as he <a href=\"https:\/\/nhjournal.com\/existential-threat-nh-climate-groups-stand-by-dems-despite-pro-oil-politics\/\">cheered<\/a> on President Joe Biden for releasing\u00a0barrels of oil from the strategic reserve and is now saying he supports the\u00a0\u201call of the above\u201d expansion of American energy.<\/p>\n<p>Pappas, in the past, has\u00a0reportedly <a href=\"https:\/\/nhjournal.com\/existential-threat-nh-climate-groups-stand-by-dems-despite-pro-oil-politics\/\">called<\/a> climate change an \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/pappas.house.gov\/issues\/energy\">existential threat<\/a>\u201d and has insisted on\u00a0promoting clean energy and environmental protections; he also strongly opposed leaving the Paris Climate Agreement. Last year he received\u00a0a <a href=\"https:\/\/scorecard.lcv.org\/search?l=pappas\">100 percent<\/a> score from the League of Conservation Voters (LCV), who recently ran ads for him.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>The congressman also\u00a0voted for the Democrats\u2019 reconciliation package last year, which targeted the oil, natural gas, and refining industries in the United States. In fact, some of his vulnerable Democrat colleagues even signed a letter to his party\u2019s leadership acknowledging that some of the provisions in the\u00a0reconciliation package, if passed, had the \u201cpotential to cost thousands of jobs, stifle economic recovery, increase energy costs for all Americans, strengthen our adversaries, and ultimately impede the transition to a lower-carbon future.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Additionally,\u00a0Pappas, who has so far voted with the Biden\u00a0administration <a href=\"https:\/\/projects.fivethirtyeight.com\/biden-congress-votes\/chris-pappas\/\">100 percent<\/a> of the time, stood by the president when he\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2021\/01\/20\/joe-biden-kills-keystone-xl-pipeline-permit-460555\">canceled the Keystone XL Pipeline<\/a> and put a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marketwatch.com\/story\/biden-administration-suspends-new-oil-gas-drilling-permits-on-federal-land-01611276375\">moratorium<\/a> on new oil and gas drilling while he\u00a0waived the sanctions on Russia\u2019s Nord Stream 2 pipeline.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday the congressman told a radio host, \u201cDeveloping more domestic energy is an important step forward. We should be looking to maximize our production, \u2018all of the above.\u2019\u201d He added that one way to help make America less vulnerable to the international gas and oil markets is \u201cmaking sure all the [oil and gas] leases are fully utilized today.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After all of this, as Pappas appears to have disregarded his previous positions, the LCV, along with other\u00a0organizations that claim to be\u00a0so-called \u201cgreen\u201d such as the\u00a0Sierra Club and the Natural Resource Defense Council (NRDC), <a href=\"https:\/\/nhjournal.com\/existential-threat-nh-climate-groups-stand-by-dems-despite-pro-oil-politics\/\">told<\/a> the\u00a0NHJournal that they are \u201cnot happy\u201d with the congressman but have yet to take away their support.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGas prices are soaring with no signs of slowing down, thanks to Democrats\u2019 failed policies,\u201d said Congressional Leadership Fund Press Secretary Cally Perkins. \u201cEvery time Granite Staters head to the gas pump they\u2019re reminded that\u00a0Pappas and Democrats did everything they could to restrict American energy, and now working families are paying the price.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><i>Jacob Bliss is a reporter for Breitbart News.
