Lindsey Graham on Thursday evening and Friday morning after he called for Russian President Vladimir Putin\u2019s assassination \u2014 with even some of his fellow Republican lawmakers describing the message as \u201cunhinged\u201d and Russia\u2019s ambassador to Washington calling it \u201cunacceptable and outrageous.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIs there a Brutus in Russia? Is there a more successful <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2019\/07\/21\/seventy-five-years-ago-a-suitcase-bomb-nearly-killed-hitler\/\">Colonel Stauffenberg<\/a> in the Russian military? The only way this ends is for somebody in Russia to take this guy out,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LindseyGrahamSC\/status\/1499575352426958848\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">tweeted Graham<\/a> (R-SC). \u201cYou would be doing your country \u2013 and the world \u2013 a great service.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe only people who can fix this are the Russian people,\u201d Graham added in a second post. \u201cEasy to say, hard to do. Unless you want to live in darkness for the rest of your life, be isolated from the rest of the world in abject poverty, and live in darkness you need to step up to the plate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Graham\u2019s initial post was referring to Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg, who attempted to assassinate Adolf Hitler with a suitcase bomb during a Nazi council of war on July 21, 1944.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"embed-wrapper twitter\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Is there a Brutus in Russia?
