The change is mostly due to gains among Democrats and independents, rising to 90% and 39% approval, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is an unusual bounce,\u201d Lee Miringoff, director of the Marist Institute for Public Opinion, which conducted the poll, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2022\/03\/04\/1084463809\/biden-approval-poll-ukraine-economy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">told<\/a> NPR. \u201cIt gets him back to where he was pre-Afghanistan.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>State of the Union speeches typically don\u2019t affect a president\u2019s approval rating this much, with Gallup recording an average approval increase of 0.2% between 1978 and 2018. Over two-thirds of respondents said they would still support the sanctions if they resulted in higher energy prices, including 6 in 10 Republicans.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is a fine line,\u201d Miringoff told NPR, \u201cbut the bottom line is Democrats came home and the nation \u2014 on the whole war in Ukraine \u2014 people are behind him.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/03\/ukrainian-president-volodymyr-zelenskyy-joe-biden-russia-invasion-ukraine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy Says Biden Didn\u2019t Have \u2018Good Contact\u2019 With Him Until After War Already Started)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Biden administration reported <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/04\/bls-us-economy-jobs-growth-678000\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">strong jobs numbers<\/a> on Friday, adding 678,000 jobs to the economy in February, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics (BLS), beating economists\u2019 expectations.<\/p>\n<p>A majority of respondents, 53%, still disapprove of the president\u2019s handling of the economy, while 51% think his foreign policy choices have weakened U.S. standing in the world.<\/p>\n<p>Content created by The Daily Caller News Foundation is available without charge to any eligible news publisher that can provide a large audience.
