It\u2019s also the, what, fifth <em>Batman<\/em> franchise? The <em>fifth<\/em> reboot?<\/p>\n<p>While sitting through this three-hour remake of <em>Se7en<\/em> (but, you know, with Batman), and long after my butt went dead, I realized that there are now grown adults walking around \u2014 people hitting age 30, who don\u2019t remember an America that once embraced the New.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Me? I remember. I\u2019m a hundred.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s the country we used to be, a forward-looking country that loved New. That country was amazing and dynamic. That country elected John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan, and Bill Clinton. That country would never have entered the death spiral of Bush-Clinton-Clinton-Bush-Bush-Biden-And-Maybe-Clinton-Again.<\/p>\n<p>New was everything in America \u2014 the most vital thing. Everyone demanded New. Go back and look at pre-1990 America. America was amazing. For example, everyone wanted the New fashions. The Result? Each decade had its own unique style. But look at America today. Style-wise we\u2019re indistinguishable from <em>Good Will Hunting<\/em>. Believe it or not, the country would get excited about the newest car models every year. This was a big deal. Back then, you could distinguish one car from another. Today, all our vehicles look alike and come in four colors, two of which are grey. Don\u2019t even get me started on music. TV essentially consists of eight franchises, five of which are <em>Law &#038; Order<\/em>. Movies are the worst. I remember seeing <em>Star Wars<\/em> at age 11, \u00a0<em>Superman<\/em> and <em>Halloween<\/em> at age 12, the first <em>Jurassic Park<\/em> at age 26. Unforgettable experiences, all. <em>New<\/em> doesn\u2019t even begin to capture it. Now I\u2019m 56, and we\u2019re still getting sequels. Someone should have told me <em>Star Wars<\/em> would require a 45-year commitment.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>We are now nine movies and five reboots into <em>Batman,<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This is nuts.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_20110354\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/5vPndSdDicde7EwTyAtqjk.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-20110354\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/5vPndSdDicde7EwTyAtqjk.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne \/ Batman in The Batman. (Warner Bros.)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>What is there left to do with Batman \u2014sorry: \u00a0<em>The<\/em> Batman \u2014 I mean, other than putting a \u201cthe\u201d in front of \u201cBatman\u201d and making it three hours long with five acts, what more can you do?<\/p>\n<p>All director Matt Reeves does here is remake <em>Se7ev <\/em>with Batman in the Brad Pitt role and Future Commission Gordon\/Alfred in the Morgan Freeman role. Three friggin\u2019 hours I\u2019m sitting there thinking, <em>This is fine, but I\u2019ve not only seen it all before, but I\u2019ve also seen it a dozen times before.<\/em><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p><em><strong>Watch below:\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n[embedded content]\n<p>Didn\u2019t we get a grimy Gotham just a couple of years ago with <em>Joker<\/em>? As far as Batman, he does the same Batman stuff, but this time he does it for three hours. <em>Three hours!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In the suit, Pattinson is a pretty good Batman. Out of the suit, he\u2019s pure emo, and if you look real close, you can see Vidal Sassoon just off-camera. The hair\u2013like ohmygawd that angsty hair.<\/p>\n<p>I will say this\u2026 At least <em>THE Batman<\/em> is not sexless. Zo\u00eb Kravitz is allowed to bring some heat. But again, the fact that a little sexuality in a movie is now a novelty only proves how sterile, conformist, and Applebee\u2019d we\u2019ve allowed our culture to become.<\/p>\n<p>So there\u2019s a serial killer, and he\u2019s serial killing, and it\u2019s always dark, and it rains a lot, and Batman teams up with Gordon, and people die, and the serial killer leaves clues behind and creates a gajillion journals, and this movie\u2019s head-in-a-box is a lot of water.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Batman<\/em> is competently made, no question, and out of its 176 minutes, there is a terrific five-minute car chase. But other than Zo\u00eb Kravitz in her underwear, that was the only time <em>THE Batman<\/em> felt like a good use of my time.
