After mentioning ways U.S. oil companies could increase the production of domestic crude on Sunday\u2019s \u201cAll Things Considered,\u201d reporter Camila Domonoske said, \u201cLast but not least, there\u2019s the possibility of a new nuclear deal with Iran. Iran\u2019s a major oil producer that\u2019s been under U.S. sanctions. If there\u2019s a breakthrough and all that oil comes back on markets, prices could come down.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Although these comments were couched as ways to deflate Moscow\u2019s aims, reports surfaced this week that Iran and China have allegedly helped Iranian mullahs evade U.S. sanctions.<\/p>\n<p>Two Russian tankers, Pegas and Linda, \u201chave been ferrying illicit Iranian crude oil in recent months, a move experts see as a scheme to evade U.S. sanctions and signal an increase in Tehran-Moscow relations,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/national-security\/russia-involved-in-plot-to-help-iran-bust-us-oil-sanctions\/\">reported<\/a> the Washington Free Beacon\u2019s Adam Kredo on Thursday, relying on information provided by United Against Nuclear Iran. \u201cIllicit Iranian oil shipments\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/national-security\/illegal-iranian-oil-shipments-to-china-skyrocketed-in-2021\/\">jumped by 40<\/a>\u00a0percent in 2021, with China, the United Arab Emirates, Syria, Venezuela, and Russia being the largest importers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Russia \u201chas joined its ally China in participating in Iranian sanctions-busting schemes to smuggle crude oil and gas,\u201d said UANI, implying that purchasing Iranian oil would reward Russia\u2019s geostrategic aims, not punish them.<\/p>\n<p>The notion of having Americans become more dependent on Iranian oil conflicts sharply with Republican proposals to secure U.S. energy independence by increasing fossil fuel exploration. Rep.
