And I think the FCC is a particularly dangerous place for a partisan who is willing to try to muzzle those with whom she disagrees.\u201d Sohn has a history of attacks against <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/gigibsohn\/status\/1169292338277093377?s=20&#038;t=gqomVwfbdjx7Vq1T58rKVg\">Fox News<\/a>, and posted tweets appearing to call for the censorship of both <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/gigibsohn\/status\/1321456221740847106?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1321456221740847106%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&#038;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fthefederalist.com%2F2022%2F01%2F18%2Fbidens-fcc-commissioner-nominee-gigi-sohn-wants-to-nuke-right-leaning-broadcasters-from-air%2F\">Fox News<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/gigibsohn\/status\/1053982573813264384?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1053982573813264384%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&#038;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fthefederalist.com%2F2022%2F01%2F18%2Fbidens-fcc-commissioner-nominee-gigi-sohn-wants-to-nuke-right-leaning-broadcasters-from-air%2F\">Sinclair Media<\/a>. I think that is unfortunate. I hope that at least some in the Democratic caucus continue to value free speech and don\u2019t want to see government power abused, don\u2019t want to see, in a subsequent Republican administration, a Republican on the FCC silencing Democrat voices. That would be equally inappropriate. Cruz said that Sohn knew this when she joined the board, and issued a statement in support of Locast at the time the suit was filed. A federal judge ruled against Locast and against the broadcasters it had infringed upon, and a $32 million settlement was made for damages. But a secret settlement was made that lowered the amount from $32 million to just $700,000.
