I made that clear to him,\u201d French Gates said, adding that she only met \u201cexactly one time\u201d because she \u201cwanted to see who this man was.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI regretted it the second I walked in the door,\u201d French Gates, 57, said. \u201cHe was abhorrent. He was evil personified. \u2026 My heart breaks for these women. That\u2019s how I felt, and I am an older woman. \u2026 He was awful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bill Gates, 66, told CBS in a statement that his relationship with Epstein was a \u201cmistake.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMeeting with Epstein was a mistake that I regret deeply,\u201d said the Microsoft co-founder. \u201cIt was a substantial error in judgement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In her interview, French Gates also addressed an alleged affair her husband had with an employee, saying she thought they had gotten through it before their divorce.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI certainly believe in forgiveness, so I thought we had worked through some of that,\u201d she said. \u201cIt wasn\u2019t one moment or one specific thing that happened. There just came a point in time where there was enough there where I realized it just wasn\u2019t healthy, and I couldn\u2019t trust what we had.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Asked if her ex-husband had many affairs during their marriage, French Gates answered cryptically, saying, \u201cThose are questions Bill needs to answer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, another <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-10573431\/Melinda-Gates-slams-Bills-friendship-pedophile-Jeffrey-Epstein-CBS-interview.html\">report<\/a> said French Gates said \u201cI gave every single piece of myself to this marriage. I was committed from the day we got engaged to the day we ended it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But French Gates said the divorce was amicable and that they are still able to work \u201ceffectively together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFirst of all we both want to work together \u2013 we founded this institution in 2000 \u2013 both of us. It has both of our names on the building,\u201d she said. \u201cI believe in that institution, my values are baked into that institution. So I have always felt like it calls us to be our higher selves.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven during the difficult times in the last 18 months while we were going through this process behind the scenes, we were able to show up and work effectively together,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not saying it was easy but I\u2019m saying for me I had days where I had tears the hour before an online meeting or I\u2019d be angry but I still rose to be my higher self and I think we can continue to do that,\u201d she said, but wouldn\u2019t say the two are \u201cfriends,\u201d but instead are \u201cfriendly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe certainly have a working relationship. We are friendly at this point. Friends is a different word for me. That might come over time but for me there is still healing that needs to happen. I wish him well. I certainly don\u2019t wish him any harm.
