Rick Scott said that he was open to altering his proposed policy agenda released last week, reiterating that it came from him personally, not the Senate GOP, after it was criticized by Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI put out some policy ideas. I\u2019m going to keep working on this. There\u2019s going to be things people agree with and don\u2019t agree with,\u201d Scott, the chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, said in an <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/campaign\/596631-scott-says-his-plan-could-change-after-mcconnell-rebuke?rl=1\">interview<\/a> with The Hill. \u201cThis is what Rick Scott believes in, it\u2019s not the Republican plan,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Scott\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/02\/22\/rick-scott-11-point-plan-rescue-america\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">plan<\/a> received almost immediate pushback from Republican leaders, who said that it would invite attacks from Democrats and potentially jeopardize their political momentum ahead of the midterm elections.<\/p>\n<p>McConnell said during his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.c-span.org\/video\/?518277-1\/senate-republican-leader-omnibus-spending-bill-talks-have-hit-snag\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">press conference<\/a> Tuesday that Scott\u2019s plan would \u201cnot be part of the Republican Senate majority agenda\u201d if they win back the chamber, and he specifically mentioned his proposal to apply an income tax to every American.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will not have as part of our agenda a bill that raises taxes on half the American people and sunsets Social Security and Medicare within five years,\u201d McConnell said. (Justin Sullivan\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>While many say Republicans are the clear favorites to take back the House in November, the outcome of the 50-50 Senate remains far more uncertain.<\/p>\n<p>Republicans are <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/01\/09\/ron-johnson-running-senate-third-term-wisconsin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">defending<\/a> a seat in Wisconsin, a state President Joe Biden won, and open seats in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Ohio and Missouri.
