We will keep our communities up to date on any actions taken, and thank players for their patience as we work through these updates.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">A statement from EA SPORTS FIFA: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/v3pZvpblgS\">pic.twitter.com\/v3pZvpblgS<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 EA SPORTS FIFA (@EASPORTSFIFA) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EASPORTSFIFA\/status\/1499057030857777154?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 2, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>EA Sports NHL followed with an announcement shortly afterward on its own Twitter page. \u201cFollowing the IIHF\u2019s suspension of all Russian and Belarusian national and club teams from IIHF competitions, we will be removing these teams from NHL 22 within the coming weeks,\u201d the publisher said. \u201cWe stand with the people of Ukraine and join the voices around the world calling for peace.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">A statement from EA SPORTS NHL: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/2uX4h55ok4\">pic.twitter.com\/2uX4h55ok4<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 EA SPORTS NHL (@EASPORTSNHL) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EASPORTSNHL\/status\/1499057313730101248?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 2, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>EA joins a growing list of companies that have taken action against Russia after its invasion of Ukraine late last month, including credit card giants <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/visa-mastercard-block-russian-banks-from-payment-networks-amid-ukraine-invasion\">Visa and Mastercard<\/a>, as well as international oil companies <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/two-global-oil-titans-announce-divestment-from-russia-over-ukraine-invasion\">BP and Shell<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, both the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), which oversees European soccer competitions, and International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), the international governing body for the sport, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/uefa-fifa-suspend-russian-national-soccer-teams-and-clubs-from-competition\">banned Russian soccer teams<\/a> from all competitions. \u201cFollowing the initial decisions adopted by the FIFA Council and the UEFA Executive Committee, which envisaged the adoption of additional measures, FIFA and UEFA have today decided together that all Russian teams, whether national representative teams or club teams, shall be suspended from participation in both FIFA and UEFA competitions until further notice,\u201d UEFA and FIFA\u00a0said in a joint statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFootball is fully united here and in full solidarity with all the people affected in Ukraine,\u201d the statement\u00a0continued. \u201cBoth Presidents hope that the situation in Ukraine will improve significantly and rapidly so that football can again be a vector for unity and peace amongst people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iihf.com\/en\/news\/32301\/iihf_council_announces_decisions_over_russia_belar\">International Ice Hockey Federation<\/a> banned all Russian and Belarusian National and Club teams from participating in all IIHF competitions or events in every age category. The hockey governing body also withdrew the 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship from Russia. In the U.S., the <a href=\"https:\/\/media.nhl.com\/public\/news\/15859\">National Hockey League<\/a> suspended its relationships with Russian business partners and announced a pause for its Russian-language social and digital media sites.
