(Hollie Adams\/Getty)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Shortly after this announcement, Michael O\u2019Leary, the CEO of Ryanair, has said that he also wishes to see the end of face-covering requirements on his planes by the end of April, the\u00a0<em>Daily Mail<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-10568811\/Covid-UK-Ryanair-drops-mask-wearing-planes.html\">reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Ryanair\u2019s CEO <a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/business\/2022\/03\/02\/ryanair-end-face-masks-summer-says-michael-oleary\/\">admitted<\/a>\u00a0masks would \u201cprobably be here to stay\u201d until at least after Easter, but did however provide passengers with the hope policies would \u201ccome to an end maybe by the end of April, at the end of May\u201d.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWe are consulting with cabin crew as well at the moment. We want to know how they feel. The key issue for us is that people are comfortable to go back onboard our aircraft\u201d, O\u2019Leary continued.<\/p>\n<p>Travellers will be relieved to see this change after they were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2022\/02\/02\/masks-to-be-mandatory-on-commercial-flights-for-years-to-come\/\">warned<\/a> in early February by experts and airline sources that masks could be mandatory on airlines for years to come, similar to continued outdated security policies such as restricted liquid allowances in hand luggage.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Masks to be Mandatory on Commercial Flights for Years to Come <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Lmt8eDGIOZ\">https:\/\/t.co\/Lmt8eDGIOZ<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart London (@BreitbartLondon) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartLondon\/status\/1488919894313738244?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 2, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The move by Jet2 to remove masks appears to have broken away from previous airline policy where\u00a0<em>The Times<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.co.uk\/article\/passengers-face-years-of-facemasks-on-planes-8ttgvwfzl\">reported<\/a>\u00a0in January that British airlines were committed to \u201cact as one\u201d in regards to onboard coronavirus restrictions.<\/p>\n<p>The other British airlines \u2013 EasyJet, British Airways (BA), Virgin Atlantic and domestic airline Loganair \u2013 have all maintained masks will be required on their services indefinitely.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>All U.S. airlines still require masks to be worn throughout journeys, with strict enforcement measures in place across different companies. In one instance where a female passenger refused to wear a face-covering during an American Airlines flight to London, the pilot turned the plane around while it was flying over the Atlantic Ocean and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/news\/world\/american-airlines-london-miami-uturn-passenger-refused-face-mask-b977972.html\">landed back<\/a> in Miami.<\/p>\n<p>President Joe Biden implemented mandatory federal fines for passengers who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/09\/10\/travel\/mask-fine-costs-flights-tsa.html#:~:text=Biden%20said%2C%20referencing%20the%20change,fined%20as%20much%20as%20%243%2C000.\">refuse<\/a> to wear a mask on U.S. flights \u2013 $500 for first-time offenders, which increases up to $3000 for those who refuse a second time.<\/p>\n<p>There are currently no British government-mandated legal requirements for mask-wearing in the United Kingdom, with England removing all mask requirements in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/face-coverings-when-to-wear-one-and-how-to-make-your-own\/face-coverings-when-to-wear-one-and-how-to-make-your-own#:~:text=prevent%20the%20spread.-,Summary,you%20do%20not%20normally%20meet.\">January,<\/a>\u00a0however, Scotland\u2019s devolved government has maintained mask <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.scot\/publications\/coronavirus-covid-19-public-use-of-face-coverings\/\">requirements<\/a>\u00a0for the Scottish people.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<em>Daily Mail<\/em> however has reported most masks, unless they are surgical or N95 ones, are ineffective at preventing the spread of the virus and may have actually contributed to the virus\u2019 spread due to people incorrectly assuming they were protected.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\u2018They Inhibit Learning\u2019: UK Defends Ending School Mask Mandates<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/W9QwkfhuKs\">https:\/\/t.co\/W9QwkfhuKs<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart London (@BreitbartLondon) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartLondon\/status\/1492091049874837508?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 11, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jet2 announced\u00a0on Wednesday the end of mask requirements for English passengers on their flights as Ryanair committed to ending their mask mandate in the near future.
