The reduction in take home pay will be considerable, especially for middle-class earners: someone earning\u00a0\u00a320,000 a year will now pay an extra \u00a389 in tax, and an individual who earns \u00a350,000 will be forced to pay an additional \u00a3464 a year.<\/p>\n<p>Both Prime Minister Boris Johnson and the leader of the Labour Party Sir Keir Starmer have voiced their opposition to the pay increase for MPs, however, have not moved to block the payment or change the law to stop the pay rise,\u00a0the\u00a0<em>BBC<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-politics-60576639\">reports<\/a>. Nor has there been any meaningful opposition to tax rises from Parliament, nor to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2022\/01\/27\/boris-doubles-down-on-tax-rises-absolutely-vital-to-take-more-to-pay-for-covid-policies\/\">profligate spending that\u2019s claimed to make the rise a necessity<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Alongside the National Insurance increase, Brits are also facing a rising cost of living due to the government\u2019s \u2018Net Zero\u2019 agenda where Brits are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/debate\/article-10366275\/ROSS-CLARK-DOES-green-tax-energy-bill-actually-pay-for.html\">expected<\/a> to have to pay new green taxes, on top of existing stealth taxes such as\u00a025.5 per cent on electric bills.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>The government is pursuing this unpopular policy, despite <a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/politics\/2022\/01\/03\/soaring-energy-bills-put-britons-paying-higher-taxes-save-planet\/\">60 per cent<\/a> of British people rejecting the cost of the government\u2019s Net Zero policies.<\/p>\n<p>Multiple MPs have also spoken out about the new green taxes, and Conservative MP, Steve Baker, went as far as to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2022\/01\/05\/60-per-cent-of-britons-reject-higher-taxes-to-fulfil-bojos-green-agenda\/\">say<\/a> that \u201cthe cost of net-zero could deliver a political crisis greater than the Poll Tax, and these figures show that the Government is heading straight for such an eventuality\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Over the last two years, the British government additionally shelled out <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/statistics\/1122100\/uk-cost-of-furlough-scheme\/\">\u00a370 billion<\/a> on the coronavirus furlough scheme \u2014 including \u00a35 billion <a href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/business\/criminals-defraud-taxman-covid-eat-out-to-help-out-b964588.html\">fraudulent claims<\/a> \u2014 as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/committees.parliament.uk\/committee\/127\/public-accounts-committee\/news\/150988\/unimaginable-cost-of-test-trace-failed-to-deliver-central-promise-of-averting-another-lockdown\/\">\u00a337 billion<\/a> on a failed \u2018test and trace\u2019 app.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Britons Want Referendum on Boris\u2019s Net Zero Green Agenda: Poll <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/w5Moux7S1q\">https:\/\/t.co\/w5Moux7S1q<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart London (@BreitbartLondon) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartLondon\/status\/1453718946297749506?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 28, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Despite Brits having to tighten their belts in the face of new taxes,\u00a0Richard Lloyd, chairman of Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) has doubled down on the MPs pay rise saying that \u201cthis is the first increase in pay for MPs in two years and follows the average of increases across the public sector last year\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMPs play a vital role in our democracy and this is reflected in their pay. It is right that MPs are paid fairly for the responsibility and the unseen work they do helping their constituents, which dramatically increased last year\u201d, Lloyd said.<\/p>\n<p>Lloyd insisted that for \u201cparliament to reflect society, it is vital that people from all walks of life can be an MP\u201d.
