Wade decision to be a constitutional right.<\/p>\n<p>Biden addressed the need to advance justice and liberty by protecting women\u2019s rights, warning that the \u201cconstitutional right\u201d to an abortion guaranteed from the 1972 landmark Supreme Court ruling Roe v. Wade is currently \u201cunder attack.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAdvancing liberty and justice also requires protecting the rights of women,\u201d the president said. \u201cThe constitutional right affirmed in Roe v. Wade\u2014standing precedent for half a century\u2014is under attack as never before. If we want to go forward\u2014not backward\u2014we must protect access to health care. Preserve a woman\u2019s right to choose. And let\u2019s continue to advance maternal health care in America.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>WATCH:<\/strong><\/p>\n[embedded content]\n<p>Roe v. Wade ruled that abortion bans before fetal viability<em>\u2014<\/em>24 weeks of pregnancy<em>\u2014<\/em>unconstitutional, but granted states the right to restrict the procedure in the second and third trimesters. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/01\/22\/biden-harris-appoint-judges-roe-wade-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Joe Biden Vows To \u2018Codify\u2019 Roe v. Wade, Appoint Pro-Roe Judges On Anniversary Of Case)\u00a0<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/02\/joe-biden-supreme-court-abortion-ruling-rule-of-law\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Biden<\/a>, a staunch supporter of the ruling, condemned a Sept. 2 Court ruling allowing for the Texas Heartbeat Act, which bans abortion past six weeks of gestation, to remain in effect. The president referred to the ruling as an \u201cunprecedented assault on a woman\u2019s constitutional rights under Roe v. Wade<em>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The president vowed to reverse the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2019\/01\/16\/democrats-support-taxpayer-funded-abortions-hyde-amendment-repeal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Hyde Amendment<\/a>, which bans the use of federal funds for abortions. and the Mexico City Policy, which prevents foreign organizers from receiving U.S. funds for abortions. The president had <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2019\/06\/06\/biden-flips-hyde-amendment-pressure\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">formerly supported<\/a> the Hyde Amendment before his 2020 presidential election.<\/p>\n<p>The president has received backlash for identifying as a \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/01\/20\/press-secretary-jen-psaki-devout-catholic-abortion-mexico-city-hyde\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">devout Catholic<\/a>\u201d despite his support for abortion.<\/p>\n<p>The Court <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/05\/17\/supreme-court-abortion-case-mississippi-roe-wade-dobbs-jackson-womens-health\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">agreed<\/a> to take up the major abortion case Dobbes v.
