In recent days, Biden himself as well as his advisors have hinted that the reason Americans \u2014 in the White House\u2019s mind anyway \u2014 do not appreciate economic strides and other policies is because COVID-19 and subsequent death has put such a damper on their outlook in life. In other words, you\u2019d have to be mentally ill to not understand Biden\u2019s greatness, they argue.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview that aired this past Saturday, the host of \u201cNo Lie With Brian Tyler Cohen\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=KutIWGd2fk8\">asked Biden what he would say to Democratic voters<\/a> who may not vote in the midterms because they see that their party has control of the three branches of government, but don\u2019t feel that anything is getting accomplished.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, two things. One, I think the biggest impact on the psychology of the country has been COVID. Almost a million Americans have died of COVID and so I think it\u2019s hard for people to get their arms around the fact that we have the fastest growing economy in 40 years, wages are actually up \u2014 not down, unemployment is the lowest it\u2019s been\u2026.You know it\u2019s just incredibly low, and it\u2019s around the the in the three-point range,\u201d he claimed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe find ourselves in a position where it\u2019s hard to fully appreciate that when you wake up in the morning and wondering\u00a0whether or not your uncle, aunt, mother, father, son, daughter who has COVID are going to be okay,\u201d Biden claimed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs Vivek Murthy, the Surgeon General, points out, I think one of the significant things we are going to find ten years from now is a phenomenal negative psychological impact that COVID has had on the public psyche,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd so you have an awful lot of people who are, notwithstanding the fact that things have gotten so much better for them economically, that they are thinking, but how do you get up in the morning feeling happy \u2013 happy that everything is alright?\u201d Biden added. \u201cEven though your job is better, even though you have more income.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A portion of those comments can be seen here:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Biden claims he&#8217;s made things better but people are \u201cpsychologically\u201d unable to &#8220;feel happy.&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/AxgSGBvgZa\">pic.twitter.com\/AxgSGBvgZa<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 RNC Research (@RNCResearch) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RNCResearch\/status\/1497629895547105280?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 26, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Biden\u2019s comments are riddled with distortions, as The Daily Wire has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/the-dollar-drops-as-inflation-rises-heres-what-that-means-for-your-wallet\">previously reported<\/a>. Biden boasts of a strong economy with rising wages, but in terms of purchasing power Americans have suffered greatly. In January, The Daily Wire reported that because of record setting inflation, most Americans essentially have less money in their pocket:<\/p>\n<p>As inflation in the United States reaches record highs, investors are losing confidence in the dollar.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>On Wednesday, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that in December consumer prices\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-inflation-rises-7-in-december-over-previous-year-fastest-rise-in-almost-40-years\">rose<\/a>\u00a0by 7% over the previous year \u2014 the highest rate in roughly 40 years. Likewise, \u201creal average hourly earnings\u201d \u2014 which consider the effect of inflation \u2014\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/in-2021-inflation-gave-the-typical-american-a-2-4-pay-cut\">decreased<\/a>\u00a0by 2.4% from December 2020 to December 2021, starkly cutting the purchasing power of American consumers.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Daily Wire also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/joe-biden-added-zero-jobs-to-the-economy-in-2021\">reported<\/a> that Biden\u2019s economic policies did not add a single job in 2021 compared to before the number of jobs available before the pandemic. As for unemployment rate, Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/andrewdepietro\/2022\/02\/08\/states-with-the-lowest-unemployment-rate-in-2022\/?sh=53571a6e1bf9\">fails to mention that nine out of the top 10 states\u00a0 in 2021<\/a> were run by Republican governors \u2014 not Democrats like the questioner asked about.<\/p>\n<p>Still, despite those facts, White House advisor blamed COVID-19, as well as the Ukrainian war, on the nation\u2019s \u201cbad mood.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, when COVID is beating you to death \u2014 literally \u2014 and you\u2019re having an international incident like we\u2019re having, and it run costs up, it can make everybody pretty angry, and put you in a bad mood, not to withstanding that this president has done a spectacular job in the last year shepherding the country,\u201d Landrieu claimed.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">WATCH: Asked about Biden\u2019s low approval rating, Biden Advisor Mitch Landrieu admits Americans are in \u201ca bad mood\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/sKdmEwuOim\">pic.twitter.com\/sKdmEwuOim<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 RNC Research (@RNCResearch) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RNCResearch\/status\/1498725764690333709?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 1, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Then, the president\u2019s White House released an announcement that Biden will address the nation\u2019s \u201cmental health\u201d problem during Tuesday night\u2019s State of the Union. That announcement read in part:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>\u201cOur country faces an unprecedented mental health crisis among people of all ages. Two out of five adults report symptoms of anxiety or depression. And, Black and Brown communities are disproportionately undertreated \u2013 even as their burden of mental illness has continued to rise. Even before the pandemic, rates of depression and anxiety were inching higher. But the grief, trauma, and physical isolation of the last two years have driven Americans to a breaking point.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Could Biden\u2019s comments be based off that report? It certainly seems so.<\/p>\n<p>Yet while there might be a mental health issue exacerbated by government lockdowns, school closures, social isolation, and more, Biden doesn\u2019t appear to take the blame for those policies which were often advocated by Democratic politicians and supported by the Left.<\/p>\n<p>When looking at the facts about the true state of the economy, it doesn\u2019t stand to reason that the \u201cpsychological impact\u201d of COVID-19 prevents people from appreciating the economy. It turns out, there may just little to be thankful for under Biden.
