In addition, we are discontinuing any consideration of Russia as a location for any future competitions involving the NHL.<\/p>\n<p>We also remain concerned about the well-being of the players from Russia, who play in the NHL on behalf of their NHL Clubs, and not on behalf of Russia.<\/p>\n<p>We understand they and their families are being placed in an extremely difficult position.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Also on Monday, the\u00a0International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) denounced the invasion of Ukraine and suspended all Russian and Belarusian teams from competing \u201cuntil further notice.\u201d USA Hockey\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/usahockey\/status\/1498407455306383360?s=20&#038;t=NnlWacRUSUkoEsKJGBUF6g\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">supported<\/a> the decision\u00a0in a statement on Monday.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Our hearts and prayers are with the people of Ukraine as they defend their country. USA Hockey fully supports the IIHF in its decision to not allow Russian and Belarus to host or participate upcoming World Championships. It\u2019s not in my hands. How I say, I hope it\u2019s going to end soon and it\u2019s going to be peace in both countries. I have family back in Russia and it is scary moments,\u201d Ovechkin added \u201cBut we can\u2019t do anything.
