two former Trump advisers, Peter Navarro and Michael Flynn, from testifying or turning over relevant documents to the House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, according to correspondence shared with The Hill. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Deputy White House counsel Jonathan Su wrote letters to Navarro, who served as former <span class=\"rollover-people\" data-behavior=\"rolloverpeople\"><a class=\"rollover-people-link\" data-nid=\"261287\" href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/people\/donald-trump\">President Trump<\/a><span class=\"rollover-people-block\" id=\"rollover-people-261287\"><span class=\"rollover-block\"><span><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/sites\/default\/files\/styles\/thumb_100\/public\/trumpdonald_070117getty.jpg?itok=6xe4YR_0\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\" alt=\"\" \/><a class=\"name\" national security adviser, notifying them of Biden\u2019s decision on Monday. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s decision was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/scoop-biden-deny-executive-privilege-flynn-navarro-e21b572e-304a-4397-86b3-2ebf290b6e48.html\u00a0\">first reported by Axios<\/a>. \u00a0<\/p>\n<div id=\"dfp-ad-incontent_desk_1-wrapper\" class=\"dfp-tag-wrapper wrapper\">\n<p><span>ADVERTISEMENT<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>In the letter to Navarro, Su reiterated that Biden believes an assertion of executive privilege is \u201cnot in the national interest\u201d given the \u201cunique and extraordinary nature of the matters under investigation.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In the letter to Flynn\u2019s attorney, David Warrington, Su noted that Flynn, who resigned in 2017 under pressure after less than a month on the job, left the White House long before the\u00a0Capitol riot.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo the extent any privileges could apply to General Flynn\u2019s conversations with the former President or White House staff after the conclusion of his tenure, President Biden has determined that an assertion of executive privilege is not in the national interest, and therefore is not justified, with respect to particular subjects within the purview of the Select Committee,\u201d Su wrote. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>However, Warrington wrote in a response to Su that Flynn has not\u00a0made an assertion of executive privilege related to the Jan. 6 committee\u2019s subpoena and has not refused to appear for a deposition.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI do not know whether your letter was prompted by some event, information received, a request by a third-party, or if it is simply the type of letter the White House Counsel\u2019s Office is sending to all former Executive Branch employees who have received such a subpoena,\u201d Flynn\u2019s attorney wrote, according to a letter obtained by The Hill. \u201cWe certainly did not ask for such a letter.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The panel <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/national-security\/593576-jan-6-committee-subpoenas-former-trump-trade-advisor-peter-navarro\">subpoenaed<\/a> Navarro, who served in the White House until the end of the Trump administration, last month. Navarro has pledged to fight the subpoena in court.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div id=\"dfp-ad-incontent_desk_2-wrapper\" class=\"dfp-tag-wrapper wrapper\">\n<p><span>ADVERTISEMENT<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>On Tuesday, Navarro provided The Hill with the email response he sent to Su.
