WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus announced on Monday the vaccine will be distributed globally through the COVAX program, aimed at stopping the pandemic.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Today <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WHO?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@WHO<\/a> gave emergency use listing to two versions of the Oxford-AstraZeneca <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/COVID19?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#COVID19<\/a> vaccine, giving the green light for these vaccines to be rolled out globally through COVAX. One of the vaccines is produced by SKBio in \ud83c\uddf0\ud83c\uddf7 and the other is produced by the Serum Institute \ud83c\uddee\ud83c\uddf3. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/t31bXP0aXP\">https:\/\/t.co\/t31bXP0aXP<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus (@DrTedros) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DrTedros\/status\/1361408162100883456?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 15, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He added the emergency approval has given the organization more reason to believe the pandemic will be brought under control worldwide. He also pointed out COVID-19 cases are falling globally.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe number of reported cases of COVID-19 globally has now declined for the fifth consecutive week,\u201d Ghebreyesus stated. \u201cLast week saw the lowest number of reported weekly cases since October.
