Lindsey Graham of South Carolina accused Democrats of \u201cthe most unethical sham since I\u2019ve been in politics\u201d in their desperation to find enough dirt to block Kavanaugh from joining the court, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/story\/2018\/09\/27\/lindsey-graham-kavanaugh-hearing-849479\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Politico<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat you want to do is destroy this guy\u2019s life, hold this seat open and hope you win in 2020,\u201d Graham said then.<\/p>\n<p>Senate Republicans are now a minority because the presence of Vice President Kamala Harris to break ties gives Democrats control of the 50-50 chamber. But they will not smear Jackson in the coming hearings, ranking Judiciary Committee member Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa said Monday<em>, <\/em>according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/ketanji-brown-jackson-supreme-court-kavanaugh-grassley-biden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fox News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJust like any nomination that comes before us, we\u2019re going to take Judge Jackson\u2019s nomination, and we\u2019re going to vet it properly as we should, and then we\u2019re going to have this open hearing. And there\u2019s plenty of time between now and the time that Justice Breyer leaves to do this job thoroughly. We intend to do it thoroughly,\u201d the Iowa Republican said.<\/p>\n<div id=\"in-article-trending\" class=\"in-article-more inner-content\">\n<p>Trending:<\/p>\n<div class=\"in-article-more-right\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/retired-fbi-agent-notices-one-troubling-detail-brian-laundries-final-moments\/\" data-type=\"Internal link\" data-type-location=\"in-content-trending\">Retired FBI Agent Notices One Troubling Detail from Brian Laundrie&#8217;s Final Moments<\/a>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cBut I can assure you of one thing: We\u2019re not going to have a comedy and a tragedy like the Democrats demonstrated to Kavanaugh.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re going to be very forthright in our questioning, but we\u2019re going to be polite, and we\u2019re not going to get down in the gutter like they did with Kavanaugh,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Graham and other Republicans have made it clear that the high road will not be without hurdles for Jackson, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2022\/02\/25\/senate-brown-jackson-confirmation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Washington Post<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Graham had strongly supported <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/lindsey-graham-biden-reveals-first-scotus-shortlist-pick\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Judge J. Michelle Childs<\/a> for the nomination, as did Democratic Rep. Jim Clyburn of South Carolina, and voiced his anger when Jackson was nominated.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\" class=\"one-half\">\n<p>Will this liberal judge be confirmed?<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-results\">\n<p>\nYes: 41% (47 Votes)\n<\/p>\n<p>\nNo: 59% (69 Votes)\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cIt means the radical left has won President Biden over yet again,\u201d Graham said then.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI expect a respectful but interesting hearing in the Senate Judiciary Committee,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>With Childs, a graduate of the University of South Carolina, bypassed, the \u201cHarvard-Yale train to the Supreme Court continues to run unabated,\u201d Graham said. Jackson received her bachelor\u2019s and law degree from Harvard.<\/p>\n<p>Republican Sen. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/sen-josh-hawley-proposes-bill-hold-tech-companies-liable-harm-children\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Josh Hawley<\/a> of Missouri, who voted to confirm Jackson in her current post as a member of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C.
